I GOT AN INTERNSHIP INTERVIEW WITH MCKINSEY!!!

I found out recently that consulting internships are harder to get than jobs, because there are far less of them than jobs, and lots of people apply to both.

As much as fiction authors get to know their characters better, I am learning about my own research as I write.

I'm going to the Fall AVS meeting in Seattle on Monday, and I'm trying to find an SEM micrograph of a DRAM trench for the applications slide of my presentation to make it a little more 'alive' than just a schematic. I joined one on indigeneity as a category of critical analysis, and want to start one in SWE on feminist science and engineering. Feminist engineering is a concept even poorer developed than feminist science, as far as I can see. I feel my calling as a Knox graduate among these people of the tables.

Today I inadvertently started a fire. I have now established that my precursor reacts violently with air in the presence of heat.

The thesis I'm reading tried to see if (benzene)(1,3-cyclohexadiene)Ru(0) is better than (1,5-cyclooctadiene)(benzene)Ru(0) - and it is. But what's even better is that the BENZENE is the main source of carbon incorporation in that case! I have no benzene and bulk resistivity. Coincidence? I think not.

I'm looking up references and additional information for a paper, and I find myself writing the references in the same style I used for my honors. I guess when I synthesized the information in my honors, I got used to thinking about references that way. Somehow (Avouris & Cahill, 1992) seems more natural than Avouris, P., D. G. I realized something being back at Knox and seeing male professors with their children throwing fits - I don't think any of us thought twice about our Straight White Male Professors excusing themselves from a scientific discussion to take care of a screaming kid.
