I wouldn't feel bad about it. Like you said, it's Walmart! They probably lose far more than that everyday in shoplifting, fraudulent returns, and other cases of miscounted change. Actually, since working at Target's return counter, I can guarantee you that the fraudulent returns (people lying about why they're returning stuff, like the woman who obviously went camping for the weekend and then brought back the tent saying she "just opened it in her living room and something was wrong with the zipper"...yeah...the bottom was covered in grass) :P
I dunno. A lot of places, shortfalls either come out of the employee's paycheck, or a big enough discrepancy is grounds for firing. "Big enough" sometimes being about $5...
