So I've been looking for these everywhere! (TVD Instrumental Score)

This is random but there are always moments when I'm really taken with The Vampire Diaries Soundtrack - not the angsty pop songs written by the two-headed hydra-children of Coldplay and Bon Iver but the other stuff and the instrumental score as composed by Michael Suby (I'm not sure if they've had others).

Oh good, I'm so glad that you do because I'm slightly obsessed with sound (diegetic and non-) in my films and it's really important to me. CW can be kind of terrible for those reasons (because god, remember Smallville?) but then sometimes they can be brilliant.

And this show can do some wonderful things musically. And then kind of blech things.

I really don't pay attention to music in shows. I just don't have the ear for it which is why it took me forever to realize the sound cues on TVD tend to be supremely loud

LOL, like that time when they had that screeching song at the end of 2x08 or something and I was like why is there a man braying in the background of these scenes. Jesus.

That scene is stunning and poignant especially with that music, and the way that Bonnie and Elena look at each other, and the way it recalls (it always did for me) the very first time Bonnie showed Elena her magic. Ugh, my heart.

Yes, I want all these things. I think Elena, Damon definitely need distinct themes; Bonnie and Caroline should have them too.

BLESS THIS POST. I too am in love with some of Suby's pieces. I managed to get a download for "Passion & Danger" (… that's the name of the piece played when Damon shuts Kat in the tomb, etc.) You can hear the brief version here. I also deeply love "I Don't Want To Be A Vampire". And this piece that plays in 2x22 when Damon hallucinates Katherine at the movie screening. ALSO ALSO this piano piece that plays during the Damon/Elena "we always survive" scene (skip to 0:55). (It also plays over their scene in 3x05. It might be their theme, IDK. It's lovely.)

Also, since Stefan has his own theme, I wish Elena and Damon could get their own too. I for one am curious to hear them.

Oh my heart, thank you for these links as I have searched for Passion & Danger (I didn't know what it was called) - the combination of this piece and Ian's shattered but determined face as he shuts that door and promises to protect Elena. Oh man. Thank you for these links!!!

Oh, that theme in the "we always survive" scene is perfect.

I really would love for the main three to each have their own distinct themes - I'm going to need that to be a thing.
