My favorite musical cue is the one where Bonnie faked her death. It was just perfect and matched everything happening in the scene, and it didn't drown out any dialogue.
I do have two wishes when it comes to music in the show. 1)that (some) characters would have themes, like you said. Bonnie would definitely benefit because she does plenty of things and has plenty of moments where a theme would be useful. The other two characters where I can see a theme coming in handy are Elena and Damon. I think from season 3 on, Elena needs a theme. I don't think she'd benefit from 1 and season 1, and she was a mess who kept being locked up in season 2, but this season it seems a theme would be a good for her. Or maybe we just need a sad!Elena/mirror!Elena theme.
Number 2: I wish all of television would include different genres for their soundtracks. Maybe that's why I don't pay attention to the music. It all sounds the same to me.

That scene is stunning and poignant especially with that music, and the way that Bonnie and Elena look at each other, and the way it recalls (it always did for me) the very first time Bonnie showed Elena her magic. Ugh, my heart.
Yes, I want all these things. I think Elena, Damon definitely need distinct themes; Bonnie and Caroline should have them too.
LOL, ILU.
