I had no idea that this had taken place (this article is about a year old) but it's really, really awesome. Basically John Lassiter got Disney to almost completely cut out the direct-to-video sequels just to stop cheapening the actual animated features

This is good news. I kinda wondered why I haven't seen any ads for "The Lion King 3: Scar's Dead" or "Hercules 4: Hercules vs. Jafar" lately.
