I'm taking a short break from working on the next part of The Ivy Crown because I suddenly felt the burning need to show you guys what the full-screen setting on Scrivener looks like for it.  See, I realized pretty early on that you could set a custom background for it, and then today INSPIRATION STRUCK.

To be honest, everything is pretty intuitive. Apparently there's a tutorial, but I'm very much an "if all else fails, read the instructions" sort of person when it comes to computers. XD Everything I've done has been by just poking around at it. I'd say my favorite things so far are:

--The ongoing word count. It keeps a running count for you at the bottom of the screen, and unlike almost every other program's wordcount feature it only counts the words. None of this em-dash or ellipses nonsense ( ... )

You made me curious about this software and I looked at it yesterday but I found it too much "intricated" for my likings (plus, I've no a MAC, so...), but yeah, this thing about the bg could help, especially if you have an image/art in mind when writing! I can see how this mini!Spock could help you go on with the Ivy Crown! XD

Gee, I still have some bad taste on my mouth after reading an awful raped-uke!Kirk and bastard!crew fic, thank you for raising my mood! <3

It can get pretty intricate, but you can also make it pretty much as simple as you want. There's also a Windows Beta version that I believe you can download for free right now if you decide you want to check it out. If nothing else, I'd advise watching the video so you can see all the stuff in action! ^_^

I'll check! Even if.. .I doubt it would work for my Windows 2000 so I guess I'll stick with Word for now *lol*

I downloaded the Windows Beta version and played around in it last night. I might find this useful for my big bang as well as The Vulcan Next Door. It looks incredible. I'll most likely be buying the official June release.

I don't think the beta version allows for background layout which is sad but I'm glad it works for you because that is some inspiring artwork and I'd write kidfic all day long if I had that to look at! O.O

Update: I am totally in love with this program! I just laid out my entire Mpreg series and it is a beautiful thing. Everything is clearly defined, what is done, what needs doing. I am definitely buying this come June! ♥'s it hard!

INORITE? OMG, you should see what I've managed to do with The Prophecy of Apollo and The Ivy Crown. All of my research, all there in one place! *dances* A chapter-by-chapter outline! Did you see the running word count feature, and the project goals bit? IS THERE ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROGRAM THAT ISN'T LIKE THE BEST THING EVER?

I JUST LAID OUT MY BIG BANG FIC! ALL OF IT! IT IS COMPLETELY OUTLINED AND ORGANIZED AND I KNOW WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE AND THINK I CAN DO IT NOW!

I can't even. This is too incredible. I want to lick this program. It is fucking AMAZEBALLS!!!

And I just went to see what the project goals things was all about...JFC! It just keeps getting better and better! I love you for your flailing, fan-girling post about Scrivener because I needed this in my life. I may just get the first chapter of my BB done this weekend. ♥'s you and your fangasms!

OMG YAAAAAAAAAY! *FLAILS*

My friend who bought it for me said that as soon as she heard about it she knew that it was something that was made for me. Then she showed it to me, and I think I literally started drooling. XD I genuinely believe that all writers--creative, technical, academic, anything--need this program. It is pretty much a perfect storm of awesome. -_-

WANT. No, seriously, if I had bb!Spock as my background, I would not be tempted nearly as much to waste time on the internet when I should be writing research papers. See how that would work? HE'S JUST SO CUTE, HOW COULD I POSSIBLY NEGLECT TO GIVE HIM ATTENTION?

...of course, I don't actually have a Mac, much less have a Mac program, so this may not work out as well as I'd like :P
