Well, that was mildly awful

Note to self: STOP GETTING INVOLVED IN FANDOM WANKERY.  FOR SERIOUS.

Can anyone recommend me something nice and romantic and fluffy to take my mind off of things?  You know my preferences by now, I think. XD

fwiw, i read your comments (a bunch of them, at least) on the k/s post and thought they were really great. i hadn't considered half the things you mentioned, but you had a ton of valid points that i will be pondering. and not to name names, but that one chick was totally blinders-on defensive or whatever.

recs, recs...i just updated my memories and they're basically all recs, so you can check that out. i'm halfway through the_deep_magic's pinto that she just posted and it's making me happy :-)

Thanks, bb. *hugs* Uuugghhh, she was driving me so crazy I finally just had to step back and say, "Enough." I hate it when people can't just engage in a civil adult conversation.

Heeee, I'm also in the midst of reading that very same fic. ^_^ THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED.

after you finish that fic you won't be able to think about anything for a while, so it will be all goooooood.... ;-)

HOW DOES SHE DO THAT? HOW DOES SHE ALWAYS KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I NEED AND PROVIDE IT AT EXACTLY THE RIGHT TIME?

*passes out*

I just did, thanks! A little tough to read at first, because I hate being tickled, myself, but so glad I held out! I'm wondering now how long it'll be until they both gang up on McCoy. XD

I'm jealous--I'm heinously ticklish, and my dad is EVIL in that respect (though he pretty much stopped after he tried to tickle me one time and in jerking away I further twisted my already-injured knee, heh). The thing I hate most about tickling is that even when you really, legitimately want someone to stop, you're in the midst of a giggle fit and it never sounds 100% genuine. Which means most people won't stop when you want them to.

That said, I love tickling other people, because apparently I inherited that evil gene. XD

Is this about the Uhura post in kirkspock? I admit, I stared at it a couple of times and ultimately decided not to click. Was it interesting?

If it was about that and you're just finally relaxing, feel free not to answer.

Yeah, it is. And it could have been interesting if it could have remained a mature adult discussion instead of devolving into wankery. Ah, well, there were definitely people in there who were behaving properly, and I was more than happy to see what they had to say, even if I didn't always agree.

All in all I've been involved in way worse, but you probably made the right choice in not clicking. XD

It always amazes me when people don't seem to understand that 'I see where you're coming from and I respect that but I see it differently' does not equal 'OH GOD YOU BITCH WHY CAN'T YOU SEE THAT I'M RIGHT AND YOU'RE WRONG'.

Well, I am have no particular recs, but rest assured that you are awesomesauce and I am sending fluffy thoughts of Spock cuddling Kirk quite mercilessly in your direction.

(Because Kirk is self-sufficient and he doesn't need coddling dammit, no matter what Bones says about him being uncomfortable accepting affection because he wasn't hugged enough as a child. What the hell was Spock doing chatting with Bones about that shit anyway, this is why he liked it better when they were glaring and sniping and snarking instead of talking like adults. Dammit, Spock, let go!)

THIS-----http://keiramarcos.com/2010/04/06/tangled-destinies-genesis/

It's a sweet re-write of the New Trek where using Vulcan euphemisms Spock calls T'Pring something not nice and convinces his father of the logic of moving to Earth so Amanda is happy whereupon he meets an Empathic, partial Betazoid Jim Kirk who is being raised by Pike. Amanda refers to Spock and Jim's relationship as a Bromance. And she teases Sarek about researching human male bonding rituals in order to establish a (platonic) Bromance with Pike. It's a series. The next story will be here May 6th. There are 5 planned so far and Keira's stories are almost always novellas or novels.

OMG I just read this yesterday! And I've spent most of today bewailing the fact that the next part isn't up until May. T_T Thanks for the rec, though! Do you know, does she have other stuff up at the same site?

She writes SGA and Sentinel slash. She has a rewrite of SGA where McKay didn't go on the original expedition. John is badass and Rodney pretty much blows up a planet at one point because they kidnapped John and refused to give him back. That's the What Might Have Been Series---http://keiramarcos.com/stargate-atlantis-fan-fiction/what-might-have-been-series-atlantis-au/... )

Aww, man, further evidence that I need to get into SGA. XD

I saw that link and decided not to click, then I was bored and decided to click anyways (now with edits by the OP) and that was when lj started srewing up, so I was unable to click for several hours. I decided it was karma and not to look when lj was up again. Mostly, because I was at those discussions when the movie first came out and they were all over the place and while the author of the post seemed well intentioned they also seemed very clueless and I don't always feel like wading through that.

Yeah, not clicking is probably the way to go. XD Fate did you a solid there.

I don't know how long it continued after the comment I responded to, but up to that point it hadn't been too bad. There seemed to be mixed responses, but everyone was more or less getting along. Then all hell broke loose, which may have been partially my fault for trying to engage in a discussion with the wrong person. *rolls eyes*
