Yay!
I got my laptop back yesterday. Just a week after I'd gotten it back from getting it repaired (cleaned and Win reinstalled), the hard drive died. So, I had yet another week without my computer. I'm so glad to have it back. It was like having an appendage removed!! Fortunately it was still under warranty, so it only cost $30 ( Read more... ) -

Eye news
Based on having one eye done, it looks like I may be able to get by with using just regular old reading glasses, strength 1.75. I've got an old pair that are 1.50 strength and they're not quite strong enough. So it's off to the dollar store to see whether they have readers in stock ( Read more... ) -
House news!!
So, we've been sitting on the lump sum payment from Social Security for several months now. While I've been here in Texas, hubby called 3 places for estimates to side the house. Only ! (!!) of the contractors showed up to give him an estimate, so we're going with them. They're bonded, licensed, and insured, have good reports both with the BBB and ( Read more... ) -
Eye news
I saw the eye doc today. He wants to do cataract surgery on both of my eyes. Apparently the brain doesn't cope well with having only one eye corrected. So, after I get back from Rondi's, I'm going to have surgery. He'll do one eye, wait 3 weeks, do the other eye, wait another 3 weeks and get new glasses. I'm still going to have to wear them. Whee!
I have booked my ticket for going to visit Rondi! Yay! I leave on October 1 and return on October 23! Both times are at ungodly hours of the morning (1:39 out and 3:05 in) but it's more comfortable than a plane.
