Did you read the backstory manga? It gives Trowa an even more emo backstory. Quatre is also very emo. So is Wu Fei.

I think that Trowa is Jewish because Catherine's last name is Bloom. Mostly I think this because anime has a sad lack of circus Jews, which this would help remedy. Beyond that, I got nothing.

Ahhh, my Episode Zero is at home, but I'm pretty sure I remember there being the very strong implication that Trowa and Catherine are, in fact, siblings. Episode Zero is technically canon, since it was by the series' writer and intended to be included in the anime but they just. Failed at planning. A lot.

Hilde is kind of boring, I really agree. I kept waiting for her to do something that showed much of a personality.
