[ Severus hadn't stuck his head out to see who had entered as there was only one other besides himself that the wards he had meticulously set up would freely let through. He was in the little kitchen getting himself a cup of tea. A flick of his wand turned it into two cups charmed to remain warm on a platter that sent floating out into the sitting room. ]

Quite unsurprisingly, yes. I was not compelled by the urge to go anywhere after you left for your own outing, which I trust went well. [ He followed after the tray, which set itself down on a table. He had been reading the whole time, his book on the armchair. ]

It is still sleeping in your room. [ He freed his fingers from the teeny rough tongue to scratch behind one ear. The kitten continued to purr. ]

You say that now, but just wait.

You are the one that was driven by the urge to go out and adopt a kitten.

[ She made a face that was torn between rolling her eyes and scowling for a second, but it didn't last long. ] I highly doubt you'll ignore the kittens existence while it is living here.

Well, not even I would be so cruel as to not watch my step with an inquisitive kitten lurking about, contrary to the more popular theories on my character.

[ He looked down at it, still being held up by her. ] Besides were I to ignore it I'm sure you would take it upon yourself to remind me of its existence. Again.

You are right about that, I would remind you until it became rather annoying.

[ Carefully she placed the kitten in his lap and started to walk away. ] I think I'll make myself something to eat.

I believe you're forgetting something. [ But he knew already that would do nothing. Maybe earn him a smirk. He set his book down as he looked at the kitten. It stared back, surprised to find itself on his lap and not still in her hands. ]

Must have slipped out of my hand. Would you like anything?

[ He raised an eyebrow. Sure. That's obviously what happened. ] I'll have whatever you were already going to make.

No... [ Why did the kitten have a fascination with his clothes. Now it was pawing at one of the buttons on his coat. When he put his hand between the paw and himself the kitten switched focus to his fingers. ]

[ She busied herself with making the sandwiches and pointedly ignored anything coming from the other room. ]

[ He sighed as the kitten took an overly energetic swipe at his fingers, misstepped and ended up wedging itself between his leg and the chair arm in a pile of fuzz and waving paws. On the plus side the kitten wasn't moving all over his lap and coming close to falling. It mewed up at him. ]

You only have yourself to blame little one.

[ Slowly she made her way towards the sitting room and tried to peak around the corner to see him with the kitten. ]

[ He made no move to scoop the kitten out of its predicament. It didn't look like it was in pain. It was being essentially cradled as it lay there and all he needed to do was not move his leg too much to dislodge the kitten. Simple enough. He picked his book back up and went back to reading, hand closest to the kitten occasionally batting back at the little paws. ]

[ She walked into the room with a smile on her face and offered him the plate. ]

[ Yet again he set down his book. The kitten mewed and waved its paws to try and reach the new object but it was still firmly stuck. ]
