Random Street? thenicehulk August 13 2011, 21:34:44 UTC
[Wearing his mask because everyone said it was a way to avoid trouble, Teddy's wandering the streets today as well. In some casual clothes and his human-looking form, he's been exploring this strange new place. With occasional glances at the map Tony gave him to keep from getting lost, he's just trying to get the lay of the land.

When a familiar face catches his eye, Teddy looks over and smiles.]

Hey, Alex.

[He offers a wave as he approaches, forgetting he talked to the other blond as his green self via PORTAL and would look different now.]

[Alex quickly looks the other man up and down, giving him a frown and an eyebrow raise.

Hands pull out of pockets, moving to cross over his chest. Does he look defensive?]

Do I know you?

[you don't look familiar, kid.]

[Teddy slows his approach slightly when he notices Alex's defensive stance. Blinking a few times, he gives a little laugh.]

It's me. Teddy. We talked over that PORTAL thing.

...Teddy?

[He frowns for a moment, then realizes exactly who it is.]

Huh. So you're like Raven.

cafe. arethebettermen August 13 2011, 21:41:46 UTC
There was a small cafe that was near the housing units that Charles had become a regular customer at. It was one of the first places he had gone to in the city, and it was a nice reprieve from the mansion. Now that he had a proper motorized wheelchair, it was far easier to get around the city and he didn't have to feel too pathetic about it. Which meant that he was more of a frequent visitor to the cafe.

As for Alex, Charles didn't always hover over him. He recognized and respected that Alex and Sean both needed space to be themselves. Besides he was their professor, not their mother. Of course he kept tabs on them and where they were in the city to make sure they were safe, but he didn't always enter their minds with his thoughts and hound them with twenty million questions. Besides, in the case of Alex, Charles didn't want to take the chance of pushing the young man away. Therefore he took the approach of coming to Alex when he needed him, or letting Alex come to him. That was why he only gently nudged Alex's mind as a way to say ( ... )

Alex felt the familiar 'ping' of Charles in his mind, and turned his head to look for him. He would probably never get used to the sensation of someone being in his head--but so far Charles only used it occasionally, knowing how he felt about it.

After a moment of debate, he decided to go see his mentor. Taking his mask out of his pocket, he slipped it on easily. Alex didn't want to see any disapproving looks from Charles, so he'd keep it on for now.

Taking a corner, he saw the cafe, and Charles sitting out in front of it. "Hey."

Charles looked up at his student with a smile. He knew neither Alex nor Sean liked him in their head more than he needed to be, and he respected their wishes. Although it was hard when every mutant around him seemed wary of his ability, yet he fully embraced theirs. He understood it of course, but it was just frustrating and sometimes lonely.

"Good afternoon, Alex." Charles nodded to him.

It wasn't that Alex didn't appreciate Charles's power--it was a good thing, and helpful. But Alex...it was hard enough trusting people, letting them in. He wanted to know that he was giving out the information voluntarily--not because of someone's mutation.

It might not have been the fairest, but it was how he had to cope.

Alex didn't know what to say, so instead just pulled up a chair, sitting across from Charles.

"You uh...come here a lot?

Way to be awkward, Alex.

[ Sora isn't quite sure what to do. the people he knows that he's talked to don't really do anything, and with nothing really happening, he tends to just think. which isn't always the best thing, so he's abandoned thinking for fighting instead. sparring and making a flashy display of magic (fireballs, blocks of ice, flashes of lightning, small tornadoes, you name it) is what's disrupting the quiet, serene status of the beach. not that he wouldn't stop if asked to do so, but he needs something to do.

since the beach is deserted, however, Sora has tossed his mask and a small backpack containing his lunch to the side. he can't fight with one of those on, anyway. ]

[Alex hears some noise coming from the beach, and starts towards it.

The scene there makes his eyebrows raise up...impressed. The mutant clearly has control over his powers (with a jealous pang towards his lack); he doesn't want to stop the other from practicing, so he simply watches, silent.]

[ he's not good at magic (understatement) and he knows it, but every successful spell that flies from his fingertips gives him new hope. he hasn't tried this spell in a long time--with a yell he throws the blade. Imbued with magic, it ricochets off of one, two, three surfaces as easily as a ball would. he raises his hand to catch it, but it flies over his head--and Alex's.

it ends up stuck in a palm tree.

;___; wryyyy does dis happen. of course, then he spots Alex and clears his throat. ]

Uh--

Hey there!

[Alex ducks quickly, feeling his own power surge up at his defense, but he's able to control it before anything happens.

He nods, taking a step forward]

Hey--pretty neat stuff you were doing.

[The city overwhelms her, a little, but she knows she can't hide away in the mountains forever. Nor can she hide away in her brother's room. She's curious, still, wants to work out how Promenade exists just as much as she wants to find a way out. With nothing better to do (and ignoring Bowen's suggestions that she should get a job), she spends her time talking to people on the PORTAL or wandering the streets.

It isn't so surprising to see Alex doing the same. She could tell from her conversations with him that he was the restless sort, that he would get frustrated finding no way out. She isn't surprised to see him not wearing his mask, either, though the other people on the street avoid him as soon as they notice it.

She watches for a moment, wondering if she should approach him. They've only spoken on the PORTAL, and the removal that gives her makes the interactions different to what she's used to. But avoiding her abilities was not what her mother had taught her.

She crosses the street to walk beside him.]

Hello, Alex.

[So they are avoiding him--Alex is okay with that. He's used to it, anyways.

When he sees a girl crossing the street towards him, he made a quick judge of her face, determining if she was going to cause trouble.

But as she said his name, her own registered with him--Asha.]

Hey.

[He pulled a hand out of his jacket, giving a weak wave.]

[She offers a small, brief smile in reply to the wave, genuine despite how fleeting it is.]

Were you heading somewhere? I could walk with you a way, if that's alright.

[Alex shrugs]

Whatever. Free city.

[He snorts and smirks. A joke, really. And no, he isn't going anywhere in particular.]

[Right now, Rapunzel's hair is up, braided but missing her flowers. It was just a quick fix for the moment, but she couldn't be bothered with her hair right now, and every now and then it was jut nice to have it up and out of the way.

She, on the other hand is wearing her mask, since she actually thinks it beautiful. Following the rules, being a good girl, that is what Rapunzel does.

As she walked she noticed a familiar figure, or at least she thought it was him.]

Alex?

[Even with the mask on, it is easy to know who this girl is. No one Alex has ever met has been so full of light like Rapunzel is.

It's painful, almost him. He wants to shove her out quickly, to keep being reminded of the one he's lost.

But he can't, because he isn't cruel.]

That's my name.

[He shrugs, looking at her without a disinterested face--or what he thinks is one.]

[Well, that was plain rude. She wasn't expecting him to answer her like that. Here she was trying to be friendly, and he just answered like that.]

Is that how you're going to greet me?

Uh...hi?

[Alex shrugs, running a hand over the back of his neck awkwardly.]

Sorry. Wasn't really going around to meet anyone.
