[ Sora isn't quite sure what to do. the people he knows that he's talked to don't really do anything, and with nothing really happening, he tends to just think. which isn't always the best thing, so he's abandoned thinking for fighting instead. sparring and making a flashy display of magic (fireballs, blocks of ice, flashes of lightning, small tornadoes, you name it) is what's disrupting the quiet, serene status of the beach. not that he wouldn't stop if asked to do so, but he needs something to do.

since the beach is deserted, however, Sora has tossed his mask and a small backpack containing his lunch to the side. he can't fight with one of those on, anyway. ]

[Alex hears some noise coming from the beach, and starts towards it.

The scene there makes his eyebrows raise up...impressed. The mutant clearly has control over his powers (with a jealous pang towards his lack); he doesn't want to stop the other from practicing, so he simply watches, silent.]

[ he's not good at magic (understatement) and he knows it, but every successful spell that flies from his fingertips gives him new hope. he hasn't tried this spell in a long time--with a yell he throws the blade. Imbued with magic, it ricochets off of one, two, three surfaces as easily as a ball would. he raises his hand to catch it, but it flies over his head--and Alex's.

it ends up stuck in a palm tree.

;___; wryyyy does dis happen. of course, then he spots Alex and clears his throat. ]

[Alex ducks quickly, feeling his own power surge up at his defense, but he's able to control it before anything happens.

He nods, taking a step forward]

Hey--pretty neat stuff you were doing.

[ that's the quickest way to make him grin. he folds his arms behind his head. ]

Thanks. [ they quickly drop upon noticing-- ] Hey, you don't have your mask on either!

[redhotsummers]

[Alex smirks at that. Good job making him less uncomfortable, kid.]

They can't make me wear that damn thing.

I don't like wearing it. I don't wanna hide who I am.

[ simple as that; not an act of rebellion, but Sora simply doesn't like hiding his identity behind a mask. especially since Riku's not around to remind him to put it on. ] Why don't you wear it? [ a smile. ] Just 'cause?

[He rolls his eye at the smile, then shrugs. Cool and aloof.]

Not gonna let anyone tell me what to do.

[Meaning that he can't leave this place--but he's going to exert control somehow.]

[ he easily calls the blade back to his hand and looks at Alex thoughtfully.

Sora is neither cool or aloof; he's a ray of sunshine, optimistic to the bone. ]

And you haven't gotten in trouble?

[redhotsummers]

[Alex is used to that in some ways. Sean is a more mellow version. And while the keyblade is different to him, he's used to watching metal manipulation--

--it's strange, but not wholly unfamiliar.

At the question, he shrugs again, running a hand through his hair]

Not really.

[He's been stared at, been yelled at, but he's ignored most of it.]

You're lucky. [ he notes with a little bit of irritation in his voice. ] First time I stepped out, some guard told me to put it on. I don't like people not knowing who I am.

Well they've told me to put it back on.

[Alex smirks]

I just told them to go fuck themselves.

Don't make anyone do what you don't want to do, kid.

You're right. [ he shoots an irritated stare at his mask before looking back at Alex. ]

--but I'm not a kid! [ he states with a light pout--but he straightens. ] I'm Sora. How about you?

[redhotsummers]

[He smirks. Hey, he's actually having some influence. Sweet.]

Sure you aren't--

[He shrugs]

Alex Summers.

[ he nods. ]

Alex. So how long've you been here?

Two, three days?

[He shrugs]
