Someone intelligent, quick on the uptake, and capable of getting their work done. Previous experience in the field isn't required, but would be handy. And by 'field', I mean technology, magic or engineering.

You don't get it, do you. I'm manipulating the settings remotely. And once I have the newest app running, the camera will manipulate itself automatically based on its parameters and motion sensors.

Tell me you can't see the potential in that.

Not just that. In his finished stage, he'll be able to adjust camera settings based on movement alone. Don't tell me you don't see the potential in that for surveillance.
