[The video flickers on, and you have a very lovely view of a pair of goggles, hung askew. There is a moment in which fingers dance over what looks to be a laptop keyboard just by the corner of the screen. Tapping noises ensue as the camera slowly turns mechanically to its owner, who happens to be looking most preoccupied with whatever they are ( Read more... )

[He nods, before thinking for a moment.]

Free book...

[... Because some random woman-read: Vorona-showed him a children's book and then bought it for him. Yeah, he doesn't know either.]

[She raises an eyebrow at that.]

Someone's giving out free books?

[Techie side of Jensen is pinged. He knows when to appreciate someone's work whether it's got to do with hardware or software.]

You made that on your own? I've got to hand it to you if you did, I'm pretty impressed. What else do you have planned for it?

He's mainly going to be used for surveillance purposes, but I think I can adjust a model for aircraft use. [Hm.] Either way, he will be able to send feedback to us about areas of this world which we won't be able to see for ourselves.

Ever been past the desert? Might be a good idea to send it out there to see what else is around if you haven't. And those tunnels would probably be a good idea to search too if you could get it past the police's security.

Yeah, that's what I had in mind when I put him together. Problem is though, we don't have an idea on how far out the desert stretches, or how deep the tunnels are. Batteries aren't limitless, and I'm not willing to send him out without a way to retrieve him.

And your boredom is showing, same as always. Do you really have nothing better to do?

[Pinged, but not going to jump to any conclusions.]

What exactly are you researching?

[... she hasn't seen you around before. But that doesn't say much, considering she rarely remembers people anyway.]

I research whatever I'm paid to research. Which, in this company's case, is mainly technology and variants thereof. On the other hand, I conduct a lot of private experimentation as well, mainly based on the dreamberry and dream energy.

So you're interested in figuring out how the dreamberry works as well? I've tried to hack into it already, but the programming is completely foreign to what I'm used to seeing. If anything, it seems to incorporate both technology and 'magic' together.

Ah, sorry. What sort of technology are you researching right now, if you don't mind me asking. I happen to be an engineer.

That description is more apt than you think. The energy source for the devices is called 'Dream Energy' -- you do the math. Still, though, it's more than possible to hack it. I'd refer you to someone who's been working on cracking the system... but I don't even know who you are.

Surveillance, mostly, with a bit of motor works.

... 'Different'?

kyudousha November 16 2010, 04:13:46 UTC
Yes. Different. If you don't know what that means, go find the nearest dictionary and whack yourself in the head with it.

masterofclocks November 16 2010, 04:15:23 UTC
[... Ignoring that.]

That just makes it sound like you want an assistant out of loneliness or something like that.

Reply

kyudousha November 16 2010, 21:47:25 UTC
Right. Because I really have enough money on my hands to throw around like that. And just what part of me trying to hire a competent aide scream 'loneliness' to you?
