[The video flickers on, and you have a very lovely view of a pair of goggles, hung askew. There is a moment in which fingers dance over what looks to be a laptop keyboard just by the corner of the screen. Tapping noises ensue as the camera slowly turns mechanically to its owner, who happens to be looking most preoccupied with whatever they are ( Read more... )

needs a research assistant, baww denial, haven't posted in a long time, hiringgggg, robotics ftw, fail origami, !video, automated cameras, hiring hiring hiring, needs more tags, stupid company policies, tsun tsun tsundere tsun, she's worried; she really is, this is just an excuse for cr, filter: estelle, orgami lol what is that, taking mind over matter, needs a life, she really fails at this

Not just that. In his finished stage, he'll be able to adjust camera settings based on movement alone. Don't tell me you don't see the potential in that for surveillance.

I wouldn't be opposed to it. I'll call you when it's in its final stages, and you can drop by to pick it up. I don't trust courier for something like this.

Just as well, since I'm not planning on writing a freakin' guidebook to go with it.

By the way, how is it going on your end?

That sounds like a typical lab setting to me. Have you gotten access to equipment yet, or are you still doing text-based research?

[But she notes it when the filter suddenly switches from low to high. Quickly entering her own set of code, she masks the switch, adding environmental jammers to the filter. Detection prevention is also vital.]

Useful. Mind sharing that 'idea'?

And on the topic of the dreamberry -- since you're working on it already, there's a guy I want you to meet. Have you ever talked to an 'Atsuro' at all?

I see. That explains, a lot, actually -- and it also explains the filters to a certain existence. If we think of the dream energy as wavelengths rather than a simple block of power, then the filter itself is designated to react to the dream energy given off by the dream, and channels it to certain specifications based on the filter itself. It's also why the filters don't filter out the dreams completely -- because to set an absolute filter is to keep that energy gathered up in a single place. From this, we can possibly gather that dream energy has a negative charge -- it can't stay in a single place in its natural state because of the repelling forces it acts upon itself.

But... in a way, if this theory holds up, it also pretty much gives us the solution on how to keep the dreams from 'broadcasting' all together.

I don't mean that it's feasible to just block off the source of energy all together -- that's just asking for trouble, or maybe the collapse of the dimension itself. Either way, that's entirely out of the question. But since the energy has to go somewhere, we can simply channel that energy away to a singular point of focus.

By doing that, the 'broadcasts' happen somewhere else. That singular point can be someone's dreamberry, or a separate transceiver in a different location. We can then retake the energy and redistribute it across the dreamberries through the network to facilitate the balance of power.

The point being that the existence of filters prove that it's not required for the energy to broadcast in all dreamberries for the energy to be usable. Ergo, focusing the 'load' on a single focus, in theory, is plausible.
