Question about our dear flibbertigibbet advisor...

Apr 03, 2010 19:32

Allright I have a question. Who is older, Gwendal or Gunther? I know neither of their exact ages are ever stated, but I always assumed Gwendal was older (because he looks older, which is kind of silly of me, considering the Mazoku's non-linear aging and all...). However, I've now come across several fanfics and fanarts where Gunther is the older ( Read more... )

gunter, questions

hmmm... Gunther was Conrad's teacher, an expert... so maybe that's why he may be older than Gwendal... why wouldn't Gwendal himself teach his little brother? maybe because he was too young to be an expert as Gunther...

in episode 88 he asked how Conrad's brothers were doing, and Cheri-sama talked about how Gwendal was starting to accept it... to me this hinted that Gwendal was younger at the time.

Yes, I suppose that would indicate that he's older - after all, it'd be a pretty weird conversation to have with the mum of a guy older than yourself.

the hot blonde one whose name I forget

Waltorana? (first hot blonde one that comes to mind)

Gunter is older. Gwendal's apparent age he inherited from his father who also looked older than his real age. Gunter has been advisor to the past three to five kings. I can't remember how many Maous he's been advisor to; I think it's mentioned in the first novel. I think he's Celi's generation and most likely he's around her age. Gunter is the lord of the Kleist territory. Gunter's mother has been mentioned. She has purple eyes and is from the lake people. And if my memory is correct, she was of the opinion that Gunter would never have kids and encouraged him to adopt Gisela.

since where the heck would he find the time serving as an advisor to the king and all

Gunter is master of multi-tasking, don't ya know? XDD

this is a very helpful comment, thank you :D

Three to five?? Whoa. I thought it was just Celi at the time and now Yuuri.

she was of the opinion that Gunter would never have kids and encouraged him to adopt Gisela.

Ah, the lengths a woman goes to to get grandkids...

ah hell i'm late to this...

Gunter is almost 150 in novel 2 i believe it is. page 15 or something, i forget exactly. i *think* gwen's about 120-130ish, but i haven't done his profile yet. But considering Cacilie isn't much older than Gunter, Gwen's def not older than GunGun.

Gunter's the rep for the von Christ family, as he's one of the 10 nobles. But it's likely he has people taking care of things. I've no doubt his mom's handling everything. She's rather impressive on things she can do. It was her idea to adopt Gisela (her family wasn't doing so well) and had to pull massive strings to pull it off.

Cecilie should be older than 150 though - Wolfram has been confirmed to be 82, so if she was around 150 she'd have been around 70 when she had him which means she was just a teenager according to Mazoku standards, and would have been a preschooler when Gwendal was born ^_^;; I think I saw it mentioned somewhere that she's actually closer to 250, which makes more sense. With Wolfram at 82, Conrad would be about 100, and Gwendal somewhere between 120-150. I'm pretty sure she was a little on the young side when Gwendal was born, but she's definitely over 150... then again the author may have had the same problems figuring out their ages we had XD

The thing about Gunther's mother is really interesting! I had no idea she was ever even mentioned at all (apart from a throwaway sentence in novel 1 where Gunther mentions he's descended from the lake people...)

according to the super intensive novel profiles, it only says she appears in her thirties, which is between 150 and 200. kinda a large range...
"外見は三十そこそこ。(今日マ94)(今度マ190)(三十路前、とも)(今夜マ40)"

and gisela's dad had died and gisela's mom wasn't doing well, so in order to get her a higher education, she did lots of stuff to get her adopted by Gunter. I think she's about wolf's age (a little older though), so he wasn't very old when he had to take her on, i'm sure. it's in the あしたマ novel on pg 30 :)

I just went back and re-read that part- apparently she decided on her 16th b'day to be adopted...?

It's close to where Conrad talks about the importance of being 16, and after his mention of his own aging and deciding to live as Mazoku at 16. (sorry I can't give a page ref >_<)

I just noticed something, chapter 2, a bit after Anissina took the knitted elephant out, narration says "if something has been happening repeadly for nearly 150 years, one would eventually understand"- This implies that Gwendal is near 150 in age too.

I wonder if Takabayashi ever thought about these things...
