Summary: Kevin and Scotty see Michelle after she moved back to the city with her new boyfriend. Based after the last episode so 5.08
At the Hospital
Justin stops Kevin from coming into the restricted area “Kevin, you can’t come back here” he says gently but firmly.
Kevin watches as they push Scotty around the corner and he can’t see him “But he needs me” Kevin said with tears rolling down his face.
“Kevin, let us do our jobs” Justin said “You have to trust that we’re doing the right thing for Scotty” and turns around and walks to the restricted area. Kevin might not be able to be there but Justin can; he needs to know how Scotty is doing. He runs to the area they would bring him.
“Oh god, Scotty” Justin says when he sees him; there is blood everywhere.
He doesn’t notice that his partner is talking to the doctor and they are looking over at him; he nods and then walks over to Justin.
“Come on, we’ve done our part. Now it’s the doctor turn” he says as he tries to pull Justin away.
“I’m not going anywhere. I need to know he is okay. Everyone will be here soon; I have to be able to tell them that he is going to be okay” Justin said refusing to move.
“Justin, you know you can’t be here. No family members are allowed to be here. Just go and be with your brother; he’ll need you and your support” he said trying to convince Justin to leave the room.
Justin considered leaving but changed his mind “No, he’ll want answers more than support. Anyway, everyone will be here soon enough” he said just looking at Scotty.
“What do you mean that everyone will be here soon?” he said slightly curious to the meaning.
“We called Mum on the here; everyone will know by now and be here soon” Justin said knowing how the family will react to the news.
Then they both heard the doctor yell “He needs to be in surgery right now; we have to get the bullet out of him. Make sure they are ready for us and we need extra blood as well” the doctor started to push Scotty’s stretcher in another direction “and get him” pointing at Justin “out of here. Call the on-call paramedic”.

Nora’s House
Nora was lucky to be at home when the phone rang; she had just got back from the radio station, where they held and meeting. Sarah had come home with her for some good quality mother and daughter time together.
They were walking through the door when the phone was ringing “Oh dear” Nora said rushing to the phone.
“Oh, hey, Kevin, give me a minute” Nora said dropping everything on the fall at Kevin’s words “He what? No, I heard you. I’ll be right there, honey” hang up the phone and then looking at the Sarah she stood in shock.
“Mum, what is it?” Sarah said worried about the reaction her mother just had.
“Scotty has been shot” Nora said in a daze “They’re on their way to the hospital. We need to go” but Sarah was already ahead of her as she picked her stuff back up and headed back to the car.
“I’ll drive” Sarah said “You call” and with that they were on the way to the hospital while Nora rang Saul, Kitty and Luc. She realised that Justin already knew and there was no point in calling Tommy until they knew more.
Then she went back to looking out the window; watching the traffic and hoping to get to the hospital soon.

Meanwhile at the hospital
Kevin watched as Justin walked away and he knew there was nothing he could do.
He reached into his pocket for his phone; he already has called Sam to help with the kids and his mum was on the way, which meant that everyone would be here soon. Now he had to call Scotty’s family and explain how he somehow let Scotty be shot.
He looked at his contacts and searched for Wally and press ring “Hi Wally. It’s me Kevin. No, everything isn’t alright. I don’t know how to say this. No, he is alive at least he was; he was shot. Okay. I’ll see you in a few hours then. No, I haven’t yet, would you. Thanks. Bye”
Kevin hung up the phone and started to release some of the tension in his body; Wally said he’d call Bertha so that was two people told, now came another very difficult phone call.
“Jordan. Hi, it’s Kevin, um Kevin Walker. Scotty’s husband, can you call me when you get this message. It’s important” Kevin said leaving a slightly pathetic message but not knowing what else to say.
He was actually kind of he didn’t have to speak to him at that point; he and Scotty had been talking a lot more over the past week and Scotty admitted that he had told Jordan about the cheating. He wasn’t sure what to do with that piece of information; he knew that Jordan and his other friends didn’t really like him when they first met but thought that they were friends now. He understood loyalty but he guesses he was angry about other people knowing his private life before him.
He sits and waits for a bit longer and then suddenly his family is around him and he can finally completely fall out now that he has someone to catch him.

At the Police Station
Sam hangs up on Kevin and continues his yelling of orders “I want an amber alert out on two missing babies; roughly one year old and both are boys. And I want to see Michelle now. So we can put an damn apb out on Steve; we need more information” he looked at around at everyone rushing but knew it that without any more information on Steve the chances of finding the babies were low.
On the positive side; he knew that he loved those kids, so the chances of him hurting them were low. That gave him an idea; the file on Kevin and Scotty’s custody might have information on where Steve lived. That being said Michelle and Steve most likely lived together so; before he wanted around for Michelle to be transported to him he better check the place.
He didn’t have time to wait for a warrant and drove directly to their place of residents; it a flat in a bit of a rough area. As they approached the building there was no sign of Steve and he and his team slowly moved through the building to their flat.
He knocked on the door with no answer; then called out “It’s the police, open up” with still no answer but there was movement and a muffled screamed which gave the detective cause to break down the door.
The team stormed the flat and found Shelly tied up in the back room.
The detective signed in relief; Sam he presumed that she was dead after being missing for a week that was normally the outcome.
He went over to her and removed the object from her mouth “Hi Shelly, we’ve been looking for you” and starts to untie her arms and legs.
“You need to get hold of a Mr Kevin Walker and his husband Mr Scotty Wandell; the man that has me places to kidnap their children, they’re only babies” Shelly said.
“How do you know this?” Sam said wondering why Steve would tell Shelly or anyone his plans.
“He kidnapped me because I gave custody to them; he is fanatical about getting them back, he kept saying he was going to do anything to get them back. I’ve seen individuals like him before and it normally lead to a kidnap. Please, you have to warn them” Shelly said desperately.
“I’m sorry to be the one that tells you this but it’s too late. Steve has already kidnapped them” he looks at the shock face of Shelly “That’s why we’re here, we’re looking for Steve in the connection of the kidnappings” Sam said.
“Oh” Shelly said “I thought you said you were looking for me” slightly confused.
“We were. The cases have become interconnected now” Sam said “Protocol meant that the priority was on finding the babies; who are known to be with Steve” he continued to explain feeling guilty.
“That’s okay” Shelly said understanding at least logically but emotionally she was hurt, “Um, how did you know that Steve was involved anyway” curious of details now that she was free.
“Witness” Sam said.
“Can you tell me anything else; I might be able to help with the case. I’ve been with this man for a while; watching his behaviour” Shelly said wanting to help.
The detective considered the position and realized she was right “I don’t know the particulars but at some point when I was questioning Kevin Walker on your disappearance today, while Scotty Wandell was at home and Steve managed to get in the house. Scotty; um I mean Mr Wandell was shot, I presume protecting the children” at her worried face he adds “he was rushed to the hospital but I don’t have any more information, sorry”.
“I can’t believe Steve would shoot Scotty, he hasn’t actually hurt me” Shelly said then continued “I mean beside the kidnap he hasn’t done anything, he feed me and let me drink. I mean he had a gun on me but never used it; though I did wonder if he would at one point. Thanks, I don’t think I actually said thanks for rescuing me” Shelly said shyly.
She might not have felt any real danger from Steve but she did notice how he became when talking about the babies; she got the impression that he believed everything would be okay if he could get them back.
“Then again he would do anything for those babies; maybe he panicked when Scotty refused. I don’t know” Shelly said for some reason trying to come up with an excuse for Steve’s behaviour.
“We should get you sent to the hospital” Sam said looking at the bruises on her wrist “Need to get you checked over”.
“I’m okay” Shelly said “You just find those kids”.
