Cingular can suck it. 3-5 days for activation of the phone. That was 6 days ago. I called. Oh, sorry, they said. Something in the original order was messed up so nothing has been done/can be done yet. Now they have fixed that (the question they asked? Did I do this online or in person... shit, how important could that be for activation???) and it ( Read more... )

i always wanted a button i could hit that would cause an arm to reach out of the other person's phone and rip their heart out of their chest, then hold it up so they could gaze upon it befoe they died. A "rip still-beating heart" button, if you will. But i guess an eye would work. My company's hold music makes me want to go for the chest, though.

As I see it, the problem is that cell phone companies only want to do well enough that 95% of their customers don't cancel. And with the contracts, you have to piss people off a lot to get them to cancel. You colud break the contract, but that probably reflects badly on your credit, whereas them fucking you over merely results in people going "well, yeah, but none of the other companies are any better." (Not like I sit around thinking about this and smoldering with rage or anything. And not like a certain brad pitt movie comes to mind when I do.)

but, um, anyways, I hope the rest of your day goes well :-)

see, since it's a new contract, I have 30 days of "cancel with no penalties as long as you return the phone" time.

they specifically didn't have that the first time I got a phone. It sure was nice of the phone companies to not spend enough money lobbying against that legistlation to kill it :-)

Just think of all the customer goodwill that cell phone companies have built up with behavior like this... boy, I sure don't think that people will head for VOIP like rats from a ship that is sinking... while burning... and exploding... do you?

I just switched from the ATT/Cingular mess to T-Mobile. My phone was active within a few hours. Maybe try them?

I will if they don't straighten this out soon, but Cingular had the phone I want and has unlimited calling for me to my mom, sister, Holly, James, etc...
