What does it mean when someone calls someone else a "dog", when in fact that person is a human and not a dog at all...? Is it a case of mistaken identity...?

Ah, no... Butz-san called Nick-san a dog, but Nick-san insists he is not a dog...
And there was something about kibbles, but I'm not quite sure what type of animal that is.

Let's see... To quote him...
"Well, anyways, if you like dogs, ladies, Nick is the guy for you!"
Dog food is called kibbles...? What is it made out of...?

It was probably meant as an insult.

Really...? But I thought Butz-san liked Nick-san...

What were they talking about when he said this?

Butz-san was saying that Nick-san needs to get some sleep, and that he needs a nice lady to spend time with, from what I gather...
('Get laid' translated to 'sleep' for Kurt.)

Yes, it would appear so... I had no idea, I thought they were being amiable...
But Kaye-san says that it can be used jokingly.

I suppose it can, but how likely would you be to call someone an asshole as a joke?

"Dawg"...? I don't believe I've ever heard of that word before...

It's slang, means friend or something.
Um What did he say exactly, he may just have worded it weird.

Everyone is so knowledgable... I never knew the word 'dog' was so flexible.
He said... Uhm...
"Well, anyways, if you like dogs, ladies, Nick is the guy for you!"

Most people have said it was probably meant as an insult, but it might have been meant as a joke, depending on the context.
Did someone call you that, Kurt...?

Ah, no, no one called me that... It seems like it was meant as a joke between friends...

That's probably what it was, then. Friends can develop strange ways of showing affection for one another, sometimes.

Unusual, but I suppose if no one is hurt there's nothing wrong with it...
How have you been, Philomel-san...?
