Author’s Note: It's finally here, the sequel to
An Accidental Chance . There's a lot(I mean A LOT)of meta here. Fandom tropes, in jokes, and real life cast member events may be twisted to suit my purposes for this fic. 14 Blaine,
WE WON!!!!!
Love you,
Kurt
Blaine smiled as he opened the email from Kurt. There was just the sentence proclaiming New Directions win, but Kurt had attached the video of their performance. Blaine opened the file and sat back, watching as Crawford took the stage first. They were still nowhere near as good as New Directions. Another group called the Unitards was next and if Blaine wasn’t mistaken, the lead singer of the group had once intimidated the crap out of Kurt at a NYADA mixer at the beginning of the school year. Kurt had been preoccupied with the Emmys at the time and Blaine hadn’t gotten too many details, but he could hear Kurt whispering to Rachel in the video about her.
Finally, New Directions came on. Blaine just stared, losing himself in the sound of Kurt’s voice. He had a lead on “ABC” along with Tina and Mike. He was amazing, and at one point moved his hips so well Blaine felt his breath catch in his throat. Kurt didn’t have a lead on the other two songs, “Control” or “Man in the Mirror” but Blaine didn’t mind - it just meant he could focus on Kurt dancing in the background.
When the video was over, he sent an email back.
Kurt,
You guys were amazing. I miss you. I wish I could have been there.
Love,
Blaine

Kurt couldn’t believe how fast the days were passing. He could have sworn it was just Thanksgiving and now they were only a week out from Christmas vacation. Things had improved quite a bit at school since he’d been elected - new bullying rules had gone before the school board and in light of the incident with Blaine, they’d been approved. Though some teachers (namely Coach Sylvester) and some students still walked a fine line on the edge of breaking them, Kurt had found McKinley High a much better place to go to school at because of the changes.
Now if he could just stop feeling guilty every time he saw Rachel.
He’d mailed in his UDACA application after Sectionals and hadn’t said a word to anyone but his parents. He hadn’t even told Finn, because then Finn would tell Rachel. He hadn’t done it to hurt her, but he knew she would freak out if she found out what he’d done. They had plans, concrete plans for the next year, and Kurt knew that throwing in the possibility of moving to California was not something Rachel would consider.
It ate at him, but he didn’t want to tell Rachel until he knew what he was going to do. What was the point in upsetting her if he wasn’t even going to go to UDACA?
He sighed. Blaine had felt bad for asking him to even apply once he saw how awful Kurt felt for keeping it a secret. Of course that only made Kurt feel worse about it, because Blaine had asked a simple favor of him - to take their future seriously and consider all the options. Kurt loved Blaine, so he wanted to give them all the chances in the world to make it.
His phone vibrated in his hand and Kurt put down his fork to answer it.
“Oh, look at that smile,” Tina teased him. “Loverboy must be on the phone.”
“Hush, you,” Kurt muttered, answering it. “Hi, Blaine.”
“Hello,” Blaine greeted him. “I know you’re at lunch, but I’ll keep this quick.”
“What’s up?”
“How would you feel about coming to LA on your break?” Blaine asked.
“You know I’d love that,” Kurt told him. “It’s not even a question,” he laughed.
“Wait, there’s more,” Blaine said.
“More?” Kurt raised his eyebrows in reply even though he knew Blaine couldn’t see him.
“Yeah,” Blaine replied. “You know how I have to go film the pilot of the spinoff for the time that I’m break from Dalton, right?”
“Yeah,” Kurt answered. “It sucks, because you’ll miss Christmas and New Year’s with me.”
“Well, my mom and I are renting a condo in New York for the duration of our time there and my dad is going to fly up for Christmas and stay through New Year’s and I was thinking that maybe you and your family would like to come and stay with us?”
“You want me and my family to come to New York with you?” Kurt repeated, not sure he’d heard him correctly.
“Yeah,” Blaine said. “They’ve asked me to sing at Times Square for New Year’s too, so there’s gonna be lots going on.”
“What does your dad think about this?”
“Honestly, I don’t really care what he thinks, but my mom mentioned it to him, and I guess he’s for it,” Blaine muttered. “He’s probably just excited to meet your dad and try and figure out how he can use that to his advantage.”
“Let me talk to my parents,” Kurt finally said. “It sounds amazing.”
“If your dad has questions, let him know he can call me or my mom,” Blaine added.
“I will,” Kurt promised. The bell rang and he jumped. “Lunch is over, I gotta get to class.”
“Call me later. Love you,” Blaine said in a rush. Kurt managed to spit out his love and then hung up the phone, tossing the remains of his lunch as he grabbed his stuff and hurried to class.

So I hear Liza’s coming to visit you over Christmas break.
Who?
Kurt. Keep up, Blainers. Is it true?
So what if it is, Santana?
Don’t forget you owe me, Richie Rich.
I haven’t.
So you’ll be booking three tickets then?
I’ll see what I can do.
You do that, Anderson. I’ll be in touch.

“The holidays in New York?” Burt repeated, looking at Kurt.
Kurt nodded. “Yeah,” he confirmed. “I’d be in LA for the last half of the first week of my break and then I’d fly out with Blaine and his mom that Saturday and meet up with you, Carole and Finn at JFK,” Kurt read from the email Blaine had sent him when he’d gotten home from school. “We’d stay with them in their condo for the week - I’d guess it’s pretty nice, considering, and then we’d head home on January second.”
Burt glanced at Carole and then sighed. “You really want to do this?”
“Dad, it’s Blaine and New York. You know I do.”
“Let me and Carole talk it over with Grace and we’ll see.”
Kurt bounced excitedly on the couch, grinning. “Thank you!”

It was the last day of school before break and it was obvious. Students who’d bothered to show up were wandering the halls instead of being in class, teachers were showing movies instead of going over lessons, and Kurt had pretty much spent all day in the choir room texting Blaine and talking about their Christmas break plans. Rachel had been miffed to find out that Finn was going to be gone for Christmas, once Kurt had announced to his friends that they were all going.
There was just one downside.
“You ready to show me the LA sights next week?” Santana asked, plopping down in the chair next to him.
“I want to see the Hollywood sign,” Brittany added, sitting on his other side.
Blaine had somehow been talked into flying out Santana and Brittany as well(something else that had not sat right with Rachel. She’d taken days to come around when she’d heard that news. It made Kurt glad he still hadn’t mentioned UDACA).
The three of them were flying out Wednesday and the girls were heading home on Saturday when he and Blaine headed to New York.
“I’m sure Blaine has a day set aside to show you guys around,” Kurt told them. “And I know he’s got some things set up for you guys to do on your own too.”
“Meaning you and him will be alone at his place?” Santana asked, eyebrows raised and a grin on her face. “Wanky.”
“We’re going to have so much fun!” Brittany squealed.
Kurt sighed. He really did like both girls but he had a feeling that this was going to be a hell of a trip.
