Project Inspired by a Naughty Kitty...

Ah... My poor couch-bed. I believe I made a post about it about a year ago last month...

Well, at this point, Marley has scratched the left armrest to stuffing, and she's working on the right side now.
The whole couch is a gross mess of nasty old upholstry, and has holes in the cushions...

Time to go fabric shopping.

I'm going to cover the cushions ( ( Read more... )

I already clip her nails on a regular basis... She doesn't mind at all... But she still manages to TEAR up the couch... which I basically decided would be HER couch (much like the chair), until Aimee and Andy reclaimed their two couches and it became my ONLY couch... Heh. Now I want to fix it up a little (the couch bed is THE most comfortable couch bed IN THE WORLD, or I'd probably venture to say that it was a lost cause, and I should pick up a Goodwill couch or something).

So... I'm hoping I can get her interested in something else, since it will be a new apartment, and I'll cover the fibery couch with something flat and not as interesting to shred... and see what happens...

I wish I had some good kitty advice. The above sounds pretty...sound (and I love the cat lady icon). I have loads of guinea pig advice, but it mostly centers around keeping them from spilling their dry martinis when they have their friends over for cocktails while I'm at work. :-)

Loki (who is aptly named) has a real issue with digging his claws into our couches...both of which are upholstered in a microsuedish type fabric, so that might be something to check out. another thing to check out would be soft claws (http://www.softclaws.com/). that lets her "claw", without messing up the furniture.

This might help.... also, some kitties like to have a -tall sturdy- post to mark up, while others prefer flat surfaces.
