“Jaejoongie-hyung!”

You feel a ball of energy practically slam into your front. A muffled omfph leaves your lips and you find yourself holding on to a giggling Junsu.

“Well aren’t you excited.”

“I’m excited to see you! I’m so glad you’re feeling better, hyung!”

You smile at Junsu and give him one more squeeze before letting him go; amused that he’s grown so attached to you in such a short period of time.

Changmin, who was walking at a more sedate pace behind Junsu, comes up behind you and grabs your arm, steering you towards the subway station.

“Come on hyung, we have reservations and we don’t want to be late.”

You could have sworn you also heard Changmin whisper something to Junsu, something about sticking to the plan. Shrugging, you turn around to see where Junsu went and notice he has latched himself onto Yoochun, Yunho still nowhere in sight.

“But wait! Yunho’s not here with his girlfriend yet.”

“Let’s go!”

You question your hearing again because you could have sworn that Changmin growled out that last sentence too. But that could just be your mind playing tricks on you. Maybe it’s time for you to go in for a physical.

~*~

“How’s Yunho supposed to find this place again?”

“I texted him the address. Don’t worry.”

You glance around the restaurant. A quaint little Italian place, very cutesy; definitely a spot for couples...but considering there were six of you and only two in an actual relationship together...you question the thought process behind it. But Changmin swears the Italian food is the best and the desserts are even better.

Thinking back to your conversation with Junsu, you’re not so surprised anymore at the choice in venue.

To be honest though, you wouldn’t object anyway, considering how you’re kind of nestled into the corner of the booth with Changmin to your right. Junsu to Changmin’s right with Yoochun keeping the other side of the booth warm until the two love birds make it over, Yoochun’s words.

You turn back to focus on the menu, trying to figure out what to order. YunYoon can take care of themselves, right now you’re looking forward to some good pasta, and the feel of Changmin’s arm when he accidently brushes against you.

~*~

Your dishes are just being placed in front of you when the two love birds finally show up.

You try not to comment on their frazzled state but Yoochun does so for you.

“I see something real important kept you from joining us on time."

Hiding your mouth behind your hand, you can’t help but laugh at how flustered Yunho is. Yoona takes it all in stride and pushes Yoochun over to squeeze into the booth.

“At least he’s getting some. I don’t see you going on any hot dates recently.”

You’ve always enjoyed Yoona’s sassy nature. She’s able hold her own in a crowd full of men. Granted, if all the men are anything like her boyfriend, then it wouldn’t really be a fair match up.

You love Yunho, honestly, but sometimes, even he could act like such a soft-hearted pansy. And Yoona knew exactly how to use that to her advantage.

“Who says this isn’t a date?” And at this, Yoochun looks across to you and winks.

You stare at Yoochun in surprise, before turning to look at Junsu, who’s blushing a very nice shade of pink. Well that’s an interesting turn of events. You think, before your mind catches up to you and you’re wiping back around to Yoochun, and then to Changmin, who’s looking more angry than amused.

If that isn’t a crushing blow I don’t know what is.

~*~

Yoona tells everyone during dessert that a bunch of her friends are gathering at a bar and invited you all to go join them.

You’re kind of sad that you’re not getting to hear Junsu and Changmin sing, but considering your mood hasn’t improved much since Yoochun’s date comment, you think a drink might be just what you needed. As you glance to your right, you see your booth-mate is still, pointedly, not looking you in the face…make that a few drinks.

~*~

Five shots and a couple of soju bombs later, you feel considerably better. At least your head is all light and you’re feeling very warm, not to mention Changmin’s at the other end of the table and you’re cuddling into Junsu’s side. All is right with the world.

Until you feel your roommate squeeze in between you and Junsu, practically pushing you off the bench.

“What d’ya want Chunnie? You took my Su-pillow. Give him back!”

“Please hyung, get a hold of yourself. You’re acting ridiculous. And that’s sad, coming from me.”

You glare at Yoochun, before deciding that you’ll give in and use his bony shoulder as a pillow instead.

“You’re just jealous I get to feel up Junsu’s duckbutt-“

“Jaejoongie-hyung!”

“Hyung!”

You turn to look over at a flustered Junsu and an equally flustered, if not a little miffed looking Yoochun.

“S’okay,” flopping back onto Yoochun’s shoulder, “you can have him. I’m already pathetically in love with someone else.”

“Really hyung? I had no clue-“

You give a well place elbow to Yoochun’s ribs.

“I just want to talk to him! Why can’t I just talk to him? Why doesn’t he just want to talk to me?”

“You know, it might actually help if you were sitting next to each other.”

“But he got pulled away when we entered and he hasn’t even looked my way and Junsu is just so soft-“

Yoochun gives you a pointed stare and you shut up. Maybe it was time for you to go home. This was clearly a bad idea and you’d rather just drunkenly mope over a good drama than be in this loud bar with the guy you’re crushing on making quite the effort to get as far away from you as possible.

You get up to leave, giving a sloppy back hug to Junsu and a quick punch and whisper to Yoochun that you were leaving and to please be good to Junsu, you’ve taken a liking to him and don’t need Yoochun to be a complete grease ball and hurt his feelings. You make it half way to the door before an arm is slung around your shoulder and you’re propelled faster out the door.

The cool air outside jolts you from your dazed state and you slip out of the grasp, turning to see who your captor was.

“Changmin?!”

“Let me take you home.”

You quickly do an about-face and almost tip over onto your side. You aren’t the most graceful swan, as Yoochun likes to remind you every time you trip on air, and alcohol obviously decreases whatever grace you do have to nothing. But you’ve learned to cope with your lack of grace and manage to catch yourself before toppling over.

“I’m okay, I’m okay.” You hope you’re not slurring your words. You’re normally able to handle your alcohol much better than this, but apparently the lowering of your immune system equals lowered alcohol tolerance. I hate being sick.

Again, the same arm comes up behind you but instead of slinging around your shoulder, it’s placed around your waist and a burst of warm radiates from your core.

“I’m not so sure about that hyung. Please, let me take you home.”

“Fine! But I’m not talkin’ to you, k?”

~*~

By the time you both make it down to the subway station, you also have your arm wrapped around Changmin’s waist, using his tall frame almost like a post to lean against.

“You’re tall!”

Your oath of silence was also left at the entrance to the station.

“Umm…yes, thank you for the observation?”

“Why are you here?”

“You mean theologically? Metaphorically? Physically?”

“Stop using such big words. My brainsmush right now.”

“And whose fault is that?”

You’re interrupted from answering as you both step off the subway, making your way to your exit.

You’re both silent as you climb the stairs and it isn’t until you’re in front of your apartment that you answer him.

“You.”

“Excuse me? And where are your keys?”

“Back pocket. Hey! Lemme get them. And it’s your fault mister.” You give his shoulder a decided poke.

Changmin continues un-phased and helps you out of your laced boots - “Why in the world would you where such inconvenient shoes?” - before leading you to your bedroom.

“What’s my fault?”

“You made me this way! All I wanted to do was talk to you. And hang out with you. And what did you do? You just had to be cold and standoffish and I had to take my company elsewhere. Soju is very good company, didja know that?”

You begin to take off your shirt and head over to your closet to slip into your sleep clothes. Shower in the morning, bed now.

You hear a cough from outside the door and some mumbling in the background. You walk back out to see Changmin shuffling awkwardly in the middle of the room.

“Are you going to get into bed or are you going to leave?”

“Uh…What?!”

“I’m sleepy, so either you spend the night or you go home.”

“Um…I think it would be best if I…left.”

You’re feeling the effects of the alcohol slowly fade, your mind is still fuzzy but the warm feelings are starting to seep away, making you feel even more tired. You stare up at Changmin before working up the courage to walk over to him, giving him a big hug.

“Thank you. For bringing me home.”

As you wave him goodnight, his form quickly retreating down the hallway, you wish you had had the courage to ask him to stay. And that it didn’t hurt you as much that he didn’t.
