This is wonderful! Because I wear an odd size (big feet *sigh* ) I can never find cute slippers. And I am about to get rid of a TON of old clothes, some of which are too worn to give away, but would probably be perfect for making into slippers, since pretty much everything I ever wear is natural fibers, cotton, linen, whatever. I think I even already have some of the rope leftover from some beadwork projects I did with it. And if I got good at this, I could even make some Christmas gifts - I know my daughter and her wife would adore these.
I used an old T-shirt and some 5/16th inch PP rope, and it worked really well (^_^) I think a thinner rope would work too, or even just some stiff cloth. These make perfect kitchen slippers
Thanks, Soto! I don't consider myself much of a crafty type (at least with fabric, sewing, etc) but I will definitely have to give these a try. They sound fun to make.
The wonderful thing about these slippers is that you really don't have to be crafty at all to make a pair. I think the hardest part is attaching the strap; a few extra fingers or clips would've been helpful (^_^) Good luck with your slippers!
I tried making my first cloth slippers! I learned a couple of things ... 1) Towel fabric (old beach towel), being thicker than normal fabric, I didn't need as much as I thought. I turned one towel into two slippers. 2) I made the slipper wider, but I forgot to add length to the strap the first time. p.s. at least with towel fabric, 10cm & 20cm tails aren't quite enough anyway. 3) I probably should have used thinner strips of towel fabric - my slippers look like Frankenstein slippers and less cute than I was hoping. ^_^""
I could only find a yardstick in inches, so I had to convert everything to the weird measurement system. I made one US women's ~9.5 size slipper using 80 inches of cord (plenty) and 3 strips of towel fabric 3 inches by 52 inches. I used the measurements above for the strap, but it really could have been longer, imo.
lol! (Wow, somehow I missed your comments.) well, with luck you'll get the feet themselves (rest of me attached). if not, I'll trace them out or something. XD
