Heh of course you may but you'd better come up with a list of common misconceptions about Norway then ;)

I'll see what I can do! So far all I can find are misconceptions about Norwegian waterfalls. That's slightly disappointing. But my search is not over yet!

haha! :) I can't wait. Did you see the original post about Australian questions?

Also, I stumbled across an old post of mine about the The Scandinavian Language. I know that you and I have discussed the similarities but I am amused at the thought of "The Scandinavian Language"

Of course we Germ(ans) are always on time. We fret like the rabbit from Alice in Wonderland if there is a possibility of running late. I always make sure to catch an earlier public transport if I have to go meet someone using bus or train, and when I'm with my own car, I listen to the traffic newscast beforehand to avoid any traffic jams which could cause me to run late. Being late is considered very rude here in Germany, so most of my generation (and older) try to be on time or are quite early to dates etc. (But then five minutes early also means you can still smoke a cigarette ;-))

*laugh* I find it very amusing and endearing that all the Germans I know are so incredibly punctual :D When I asked German Girl II how she always managed to be on time despite traffic jams, she replied: "I leave earlier!"

But it is true :) We leave earlier to be on time. And then stand around swearing we will sleep longer, drink another coffee etc. and getting out of the house next time a bit later ... but no ... the Prussian punctuality is ingrained in our psyche.

*laugh* Well if you look above, one of the dumb questions asked of Aussies was asked by a German so it all goes around. And London Guy I laughed at me when I referred to English policemen as bobbies, saying that that term hadn't been used in ages ;) I've read so much that it all jumbles in together and sometimes I forget which time period certain words and phrases belong to :D

Haha! Yes I always rib British Chap at work about stiff upper lip and tally ho ;) He and most other English people of my acquaintance are quite agonised by Dick Van Dyke's travesty of an accent in Mary Poppins :D

Also I'm not sure if you watch House but I posted once about one of House's digs at Chase ;)

I know it's not very related to the misconceptions in Germany but i've found this site where they put stupid questions made in college, and some of them are really stupid

Art History class. The professor is describing a piece with Christ on the
cross as the focus and the other people in the background

Professor: The man behind the cross is God, the dove is the holy spirit and
Jesus is the one on the cross.
Mental Giant: Wait... So which one is Jesus then?
Professor: Silence

Heh heh they're funny. Let me think about my perceptions of Spain ... I really liked Barcelona, I felt a bit lonely in Madrid for some reason even though I was travelling alone in both places. OK the perception of the Spanish is:
- passionate
- good at singing/dancing
- party hard
- tapas! :D

I haven't been to Barcelona but i visited Madrid last winter and i think the impression you get is that everybody in their own world, but i guess that happens in the big cities and that's why i like living in a small town, although sometimes people know about your life more than yourself.

- good at singing/dancing

I cannot sing nor dance, hehe

I think that along with those you could add the siesta and the bulfighting everywhere. Did you try the tapas in Madrid??? They're delicious.

Talking about misconceptions, inside spain and among the different provinces (i haven't made up this word, have i??) you can find many misconceptions, i live in the north and if you ask a person from other part of Spain about the people we live in the north they'll tell you that we talk very loud, that we drink wine and many other things :D
