It's been a while since I posted here. Lots has gone on. I'll cover the basics, I suppose. After Christmas, I came back up to Rochester for about 24 hours and had coffee with julescm. I got a notification yesterday that Yahoo Photos was shutting down, and would I like to move mine elsewhere in an automated process? I didn't feel like hand-checking what I'd ported over to flickr already, so I said "go ahead". Nine years ago (it feels much longer than that), I had some small portion of my left lung removed (warning: graphic medical photos). I don't miss it one bit! Good riddance to bad organs!

What a weekend! I watched a building implode (view on youtube if you don't mind my patented shaky-cam technique or on Flickr if you hate my patented shaky-cam technique), grilled a picnic shoulder into a delicious metric ton of meat, and bought a mini-muffin tin. Also, Vik & I attempted world domination via Trivial Pursuit 90s edition. We failed.

After my meeting with Dick this morning, I've had a productive day... on flickr. It all started because of a slashdot headline about flickr's new ability to geographically tag photos. The Yahoo maps database has crappier sat photos than google, by way tons. (If I may coin a phrase, and I may.) And the search capabilities are ehhhh. But my map is ( Read more... )

An update on my day's accomplishments: I have done nothing academic yet. I have talked to ACA about Things She Should Know About In My Life (sounds really ominous, but isn't) and done 2 loads of laundry.

Most importantly, I have organized my pictures from India into as coherent a set as I'm ever going to get on flickr, with captions & tags! Enjoy!
