The Grandparents

Today was a trip to my paternal grandparents' grave with my parents, my sister, and my three month-old nephew. There were a lot of emotions to unpack there for various reasons.

Beautiful! I think G-ma, Grampa and A. Chris would tear up, too. I miss them terribly as well.

I think I understand what you mean. My grandmother was the central hub of all of our holidays. We went over to her house for every holiday (she loved July 4th and barbecues and fireworks) and really any excuse. When she passed away, it was very hard. We had to invent new traditions.

I completely feel you on the small child thing. My niece is like any other 3 year old in the world, but she's family. Period.

*hugs* This time of year is tough for me too. I just want to make holidays as wonderful and merry as possible, because that is what Grandma loved most.
