Today was a trip to my paternal grandparents' grave with my parents, my sister, and my three month-old nephew. There were a lot of emotions to unpack there for various reasons.

I've been busy, interspersed with exhausted, but generally in a good way. My allergies, which had been on haitus since arriving in Sunny California, returned with a vengeance about two weeks ago, knocking me flat. After a couple of months of feeling like an idiot, stumbling around, and getting my ass kicked, I am now officially a yellow belt in Shorin-ryu Okinawan karate. ...which doesn't mean I really know anything more than I did before. It just means that my gi isn't monochrome any longer.

Just a quick note to say that one year ago today, I married a beautiful, intelligent, creative lady who is really too good for me, and despite a few bumps along the road - a road that veered wildly over to the West Coast - we've managed to make it to paper (or, I suppose, clocks, if you're being "modern").

I'm hoping that Ebert (and Roeper, for that matter) returns to some sort of audio and / or televised movie criticism, as I really like podcastable content, and NPR's Movies podcast is something of a mixed bag.
