Well, today I purchased my second-ever new car, a 2007 Toyota Prius (dark grey, with option package #1, for those of you playing along at home). Grats!

What is basic warrenty and what is expanded? How much driving do you do? I paid about that (maybe, it was a long time ago) for a 5 year 100k deal for my Accord. So maybe it is worth it to you...

Quick searches (e.g. here)
don't seem to pull up any sources of complaints about reliability, but do indicate they have higher maintence costs, which might be covered by the extra plan

Other costs. Hybrids are expected to cost more to insure and maintain, although these costs amount to only a few hundred dollars' difference over five years. For example, the Lexus RX400h is estimated to cost $467 more to insure and $70 more in maintenance over five years.[...] The one thing the magazine did not put a dollar figure on is reliability. Hybrids, at least at this early stage in their history, seem to be very reliable.
