Last night was interesting... and not in a good way.
So, I woke up at 2am, sweating bullets and heart racing. Figured I knew what this was, but need to make sure. Checked the blood sugar... yep. 52. Well, dealing with the diabetes thing has always been a hit or miss thing... mostly hits, with a few misses. Monday, the Doctor decided that since I wasn't a type 2 diabetic, that going off the meds would be the best thing. Well... that's being a bit rough, to tell the truth. I've figured out what kind of diabetes I have. It's what's called "latent autoimmune diabetes (adult)". It has an adult onset (typically older than 35), is not characterized by obesity, and generally starts by being treatable via over the counter meds, but that will stop being effective at some point. Well the verdict is in...
I am most certainly diabetic. After taking the glucose dose, my blood sugar level was supposed to go up to ~200, then come down to 140 after 2 hours. Mine first went up to 342, then 433, then a little bit down to 425. The interesting part, was that I felt fine throughout all this. Now. What does this mean? Well, that was... interesting...
Friday, I had an interesting thing happen to me. The left half of my right forearm (thumb to middle finger, all the way back to the elbow) felt numb and tingly, like I'd smacked my funny bone. But, a) I didn't smack the funnybone, and b) it wouldn't have lasted all day ( Read more... ) -
