First of all, I loved your summary and how you worded it. :) Also what your comments and what you added about the uniforms was really interesting.
I really loved rewatching the first episode again. I didn't remember a lot of stuff that was mentioned in there, especially what the villagers mentioned about getting a reward with Yuuri (XD).
Also I really loved to see their first impressions, especially Gunter's X3 (his slight blush). But we can see he can be very serious when he needs to be I insist!
And the first person who told me about KKM was allira-dream, but I think it just sounded too weird when she told me about the plot at that time ^^u. Then, a few time passed and in a FMA site I used to visit, the owners were fangirling a lot about KKM, and even provided links of what part of the series was out, so I said why not. So I watched it...=D AND LOVED IT, and still LOVING it a lot, because it has a bit of everything: comedy, action, drama, suspense, romance (kinda?), etc.
SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT Like you, I really love the hints they
( ... )
Thank you! It was a lot of fun to write and I'm so happy to see such a strong response to the uniforms!! ^_^
*laughs* Can't you just see the villager's chasing Yuuri and trying to cut off his head and Yuuri being all "wait! I have no idea what's going on~!" ~_^
Gunter can absolutely be serious! Which is why his character is so fascinating to me - there's more than meets the eye, even in this episode he mentions his use of magic in battle, so we know he's a warrior. <3
Remind me to thank allira_dream later then, because I'm so glad we met and I don't know if we would have but for KKM! *hugs* You're dead right about there being a little bit of everything, with a hearty dose of sarcasm and crack. XD
Spoilers! the hints in this episode are wonderful, and that's why I had such fun this second time. Especially Murata! You just know he was expecting someone looking like Wolfram to come up and then he gets Yuuri! I laughed so hard when I saw that. And also Adalbert's entrance and the conversation between him and Conrart is so meaningful now

Wow, I've never heard the dub before. I'm a definite sub snob so it never even occurs to me to try it out. Now I'm curious! Although you're right that once you get used to a certain voice it's hard to change. ^_^ I heard the dub version of "Shibuya Yuuri Harajuku Furi" is pretty lame though...is it really a play on "urine"? >_<
GAH, why is my capslock making me post before I'm ready?? I was going to say that it's a cools tory that you got into it like that, and YES IT'S A GOOD THING YOU STAYED WITH IT CAUSE YAY!!!
I'm not a dub fan, but I'm not a sub fan, either. I take everything on a case-to-case basis because some dubs are good, some dubs are bad, and the same goes for subs. KKM is on of the few cases where I can't stand the Japanese cast at all (though I endure it for the OVAs and the third season, if only because there's no definite answer as to whether it'll be dubbed at all.) The dub version of Shibuya Yuuri Harajuku Furi is a play on urine, yes, but as lame as that is? I think it's perfectly understandable why they did that. Not many people are going to watch the series and offhandedly know the reference and get why it's amusing. I had to look up information on the pun to get it. Your casual anime watcher isn't likely to do that, and it's hard to translate such a blatant cultural reference in a way that will make sense to Western fans who aren't familiar with Japanese culture. So while it's annoying, and one of the aspects of the dub that I do ignore, I don't complain about it because they were perfectly right in doing it
( ... )
Well, even though the pun was a bit lame, ya gotta admit that translating puns from Japanese to English is a rather problematic task. Personally, I adore the English dub every bit as much as the Japanese. >w< Both seem to capture the spazzy, dramatic, adventurous attitude of the series so well. <3
I haven't actually rewatched the episode yet, so I might have stuff to add to this once I do. But considering that the first time I watched this episode was at the end of December, I think my memory of it is still pretty fresh. I usually rewatch a series shortly after about a month of finishing it, but I haven't had time to recently due to a job. But now I have time, so I shall definitely start that
( ... )
I know what you mean about rewatching - I usually do too, but 78 eps is a lot! Which is why a group effort is needed. ^_^
Funny, I've heard a lot of people say that they don't really like shounen ai but like KKM! Interesting! I know it was my first huge fandom obsession in the shounen ai arena (the canon isn't but the fandom sure is!) so maybe it's like a gateway drug? XD
39 eps in 6 days? @_@ Wow, you must have been crosseyed for days! XD Just goes to show the strong pull of this show. Try as we might, resistance is futile! ^_^
It's true that the uniforms aren't exactly the same, but I like the way they used kind of the basic design and then made them their own. It was something that was too fun to not post about! XD
Yay! I'll be looking forward to your episode, and all the discussions in between! ^_^
Funny, I've heard a lot of people say that they don't really like shounen ai but like KKM! I don't really see how anyone could watch this show without liking shounen-ai... but I have seen lots of comments about not liking Yuuri/Wolfram or Conrad/Yuuri and other pairings when I watched the show on Veoh. I've liked shounen-ai and yaoi and slash for several years before I started watching this series, starting with Lord of the Rings.
39 eps in 6 days? @_@ Wow, you must have been crosseyed for days! XD Not that badly, actually. And it's certainly better than neocloud9 down there... I couldn't imagine watching the first season all at once. 39 episodes at 24 minutes each is 15 hours, 36 minutes.
( ... )
I don't really see how anyone could watch this show without liking shounen-ai.. I thought so too, but then I did a poll about it on my LJ and I got PUT DOWN (in a friendly way XD). Turns out that a lot of friends of my friends dare averse to shounen ai yet enjoy KKM. I was shocked too!!
15 hours?!?! Egad! That's...dedication! And a lot of popcorn. @_@
How did I get started on KKM? Well, after having purchased several other anime series on Amazon, it KEPT ON RECOMMENDING that I try Kyou Kara Maou. So finally, I looked it up on Wikipedia, found some AMVs on YouTube, and promptly fell in love at first sight. I ordered the entire first season box set that very day. Watched the first 39 episodes *all in one sitting* and waited like a crack-whore for each new DVD release after that. When Geneon went kaput and stopped releasing the DVDs, I downloaded the rest of the series and have now been waiting like a crack-whore for each OVA. ^^ Good times.
Amazon the crack dealer of anime!!! XD You should send it a thank-you card! :P
ONE SITTING? You are clearly the WINNER of watching KKM the fastest! *confetti* I'm...impressed. How many hours did that take??
I know what you mean about the crack-whore waiting. When a new episode would come out when the show was still being released I'd be on the cough waiting for the DL and giggling like an idiot. Anyone nearby would start smacking their arm (you know, like looking to open a vein). It was the most hilarious thing and I'll never live it down! But it was all for the greater good, right? ^^
I first got into KKM when I was looking for a new anime to watch and picked up the first DVD at my local video store a few years ago. I'd read about it in Newtype before but really hadn't had much of an interest in it. Then I saw pretty people on the cover, and read that Yuuri loves baseball and I thought, "Oh! Common interest!" so I bought it. Then I fell in love with Wolfram and the rest is histroy... And the fact that Yuuri got flushed down a toilet is so much more entertaining than getting sucked into a book or falling into a well, or whatever other ways characters have been transported to other worlds.
Now I try to corrupt as many people as I possibly can. :D
Your summary was amazing and highly entertaining, by the way. XD I can tell you had loads of fun doing it!! I know I am, though my fingers are starting to cramp up from typing so much. ^^;
Ah yes, the baseball/Boston Red Socks angle! I think you win for msot unique hook into the show! *confetti*
Ahaha, let the hordes grow by the day! This show practically pimps itself it seems like - get people watching 1-2 episodes and they're DONE. The KKM Outreach Project has been very lucrative, indeed! ~_^
Thank you! It was a ton of fun...nearly too much, because my husband was looking at me like I was insane for a bit, there. >.> *offers ice for your poor fingers* I know it's a lot, but like writing, it's very rewarding! ^_^
