mailman why arent you consistent?

That depressing moment when the mailman may have left my package at the office, instead of coming and knocking on the apt door first. But no notice/email from office letting me know I have a package. So I'm stuck all weekend worrying and hoping that the office has it. Or if the package is gone. Mailman why aren't you consistent?!
