So i called the friday after thanksgiving Black Friday,
i thought this was a fairly common name for it due to the large quantity of shoppers out at 5 am buying christmas presents
Andrea however had never heard of this and i now find out that no one in buffalo seems to have heard of it
has anyone else?

i heard it on TV today. but i'd never heard it before. at first i thought it must have some sort of religious connotation, like the day everyone gets really unthankful after thanksgiving, but then i come to find out it's some economics thing with the stores. disappointing.

put the books into the black whahoooooooooooo
i feel that it has more to do with the prospects of having to stand in line all day for four cents off your kid's toys
thats much better than putting the books into the black
or maybe some satanic ritual worshiping the gods of commerce

Since it seems only we from Watertown knew this term off-hand,
it just goes to show you that we're smarter
more observant
and more absorbant.
go we!

Since reading this post,
I have seen so many references to Black Friday,
it's mind-boggling.
It's in the national news for goodness' sakes!

I am more intimately acquainted with it than I would like to be guagualoca November 30 2004, 20:38:13 UTC
As a retail worker who has had to work this Black Friday three times too many, I am very well aware that this is what it is called. However, this year my store manager thought it would be cute if all of our store employees referred to it as "green Friday" in light of all of the money she intended for the day to rake in. And just so no one's confused, I'm not from Watertown. I'm from a suburb of Ohio.
