Earthquake!!!

Was innocently sitting on my sofa last night when I noticed my Xmas tree was swaying quite a bit more than was justified.  Then realised it was an earthquake, and had that anxious moments wait to discover if it was just a small one or if it was gonna be trouble :-o
Luckily it was quite far away (although large there 6.8), so no damage ( Read more... )

(((hugs))) I'm glad you're okay! I agree with Astropoet that it shouldn't be exciting but it is kinda...this tracking stuff is really cool! Though I have to say that I am thankful to not live in a quake-prone area. We have small ones but the Balcones fault isn't very active thankfully! :)

"Was innocently sitting on my sofa last night when I noticed my Xmas tree was swaying quite a bit more than was justified."

So it wasn't just the late night cocktail? LOL! Glad there wasn't any damage in Christchurch.

In case I don't get a chance in the next few days....have a Merry Christmas.

LOL! I love the "was swaying quite a bit more than was justified." :D

Glad though that you just felt the tremor and didn't have any damage. They do feel funny. We have 'em around here, amazingly for being in the middle of the continental plate and nowhere near major fault lines. Mild and not too often. The last one was centered down near Richmond, VA, a year or so ago. Everything shook mildly like a heavily-loaded train was coming up the tracks, but no train ever came! :D
