Earthquake!!!

Was innocently sitting on my sofa last night when I noticed my Xmas tree was swaying quite a bit more than was justified.  Then realised it was an earthquake, and had that anxious moments wait to discover if it was just a small one or if it was gonna be trouble :-o
Luckily it was quite far away (although large there 6.8), so no damage ( Read more... )

Wow, I was wondering when I read the news of the earthquake if you were affected in any way. I wasn't sure where you are located, and NZ is so big! Glad to hear all is well with you - sounds like a very exciting way to start the holidays!

Luckily although it seems to have shaken everyone up a bit (literally!) we've gotten off pretty lightly. Although I'm not sure all the shop keepers up there agree, it's their busiest time :-S

A very interesting way to start the holidays! I hope the rest is much more sedate :p So far today I've eaten lunch out with friends, and started cleaning my house for the Xmas invasion :-o :p

Is it sad that I really want to feel an earthquake? We never get anything bad happen where I live. Which I should be thankful for, but I thrive on disaster lol :P

It doesn't happen very often here really either - this is the 4th or 5th one I've felt in my life, and none of them was sufficiently strong as to encourage me under a desk or door fram - thank goodness!

Yikes! Gabe's BFF is down there visiting family for Xmas, but I think they're near you. Glad you're okay. We've had one earthquake here since we relocated; they're FUN! :P

:-o Nowhere near me is where the earthquake was! Nah, unless they were in downtown Gisbourne at the time they weren't anywhere near the centre, and even then it just shook things up a bit really.

LOL! I know! I feel the same way! Apart from that anxious moment where you wonder if it's gonna be the "BIG one", and once you realise it's just a little one it's kinda fun!
