I realize that gloating is not becoming, I do, but I don't care.

Gas prices were $133 yesterday, and will go up more, la-la-la-la. How does it feel to waste $100 and more a week on gas, my dear SUV owners?

45$ for a Neon is not exactly cheap either.

No, not cheap, but did you know that in Europe price of gas is $10 a gallon? So glad to hear from you, how is it going? Did you finish school, what are you guys up to now?

Yeah, I know :) It still doesn't make it any better. Except for the fact that Europe has a very well developed public transit system for a variety of reasons. Americans are not in this kind of thing and, moreover in order for us to build one, gas prices will have to stay high for a very long time. I am talking years. And that is not a pretty scenario.

It's ok. Done with school, picking up some credits and trying to get into grad school, working. Husband moved for a job so we see each other every other weekend. Boat loads of fun! :|

the gas prices are high because oil futures are high, and oil futures are high because of the banking crisis - which has nothing to do with Bush...but instread with stupidity of people buying houses they could not afford and greed of banks loaning to those who should not get a loan. Don't get me wrong, I am not a supporter of Bush...I just don't think he is at fault for gas prices its just economy

Spend/waste distinction is rather subjective, wouldn't you agree?

Whether it is spend or waste is not the critical point here, and I know you know what I meant to say :) No one REALLY needs an SUV, unless they have 3+ kids, and even then there are hybrid SUV's out there.

People with a bunch of kids don't needs SUVs either. It's people who transport kayaks or some such who probably do. Hybrid SUVs weren't there just recently, and at these gas prices they still aren't worth the extra cost upfront. The problem is, if people rush out to replace their cars with fuel-efficient ones right now, it will be absolutely no good for the environment. The best thing for the environment, if we are to use any cars at all, is to use each car as long as possible.

Same, btw, goes for any other STUFF we use.

My point exactly, those SUV's should have never been bought. Hence my gloating at SUV owners right now :)

I'm not sure about all the other energy inefficient stuff. Do you by chance know if it's better to have the big 10-year old washer/dryer or replace them with the front-loaders? I hate to see all that water wasted...
