the gas prices are high because oil futures are high, and oil futures are high because of the banking crisis - which has nothing to do with Bush...but instread with stupidity of people buying houses they could not afford and greed of banks loaning to those who should not get a loan. Don't get me wrong, I am not a supporter of Bush...I just don't think he is at fault for gas prices its just economy
I think it's both, no? When the future of gas supply is uncertain doesn't that push the price of oil up? I'm not an economist, though, just guessing here.
But that's not the point of this post. I say, let the prices soar!!!! Vsyo vyshe, i vyshe, i vyshe!!! :)))) People won't change their habits unless their pocket books are severely affected.
I just listened to an hour long show on NPR about gas prices a couple of days ago and the bottom line was "it's a complicated issue, and it's hard to pin-point the reason." i was in and out of the car and missed the bit about banking crisis, but i did get to hear about the Bush cronies oil companies.
may be, but first of all we pack that thing up the the roof when we go up north and we go there a lot. second - James has back problems and he is 6'1", so he can't sit in a small car for more than 20 minutes. i suppose we will be looking for a hybrid SUV next time around. this winter GM's selection of hybrids was pathetic.
Ne znayu. I hear this a lot about back problems, but how long does he spend in a car, and how often do you really go to the UP? Andy is 6 feet and his back is no picnic either, yet he's been driving a hybrid for 8 years straight, doing a TON of traveling, and hasn't complained of discomfort once. I'm trying not to judge here, honest, I can't be upset with people I like :)) I just so wish there was another way of transporting oneself.
James spends 2+ hours in the car every day. I guess Andy and James have different priorities. We are not as environmentally conscientious as we should be. And when I say back problems, I mean serious back problems. He has a herniated disk, had surgery on his back, and had to live on a couch at his parents house for a couple of months after that.
By the way, Colin is coughing up a long and has a low grade fever :( I think we'll be going to the doctor's office tomorrow instead of the park. Sorry about that. I'll call you about rescheduling once he gets better.
