Whether it is spend or waste is not the critical point here, and I know you know what I meant to say :) No one REALLY needs an SUV, unless they have 3+ kids, and even then there are hybrid SUV's out there.
People with a bunch of kids don't needs SUVs either. It's people who transport kayaks or some such who probably do. Hybrid SUVs weren't there just recently, and at these gas prices they still aren't worth the extra cost upfront. The problem is, if people rush out to replace their cars with fuel-efficient ones right now, it will be absolutely no good for the environment. The best thing for the environment, if we are to use any cars at all, is to use each car as long as possible.
My point exactly, those SUV's should have never been bought. Hence my gloating at SUV owners right now :)
I'm not sure about all the other energy inefficient stuff. Do you by chance know if it's better to have the big 10-year old washer/dryer or replace them with the front-loaders? I hate to see all that water wasted...
I bet they do :( I was thinking of getting an Altima hybrid, but it was using the hybrid technology to enhance the car's power, not to make it more fuel efficient, how ridiculous is that.
I dunno, we use our Prius in any imaginable way. We've gone on many trips in it, camping several stuff, with a kayak. Somehow we are able to fit everything in it. And before the Prius we had Insight, did you ever see that car? It was a 2-door, and I used to call it a booger :)) And we went everywhere in it too! That thing was getting up to 70 miles to the gallon, it was incredible!
The doctor's visit went great. We only had to wait for 10 minutes, and no one had a meltdown :) Colin's fever is gone but he is still coughing and has a runny nose.

Same, btw, goes for any other STUFF we use.
