My entry touches on a lot of this. I do want to say, though, that yes we are social creatures. But dude, there have been "thinkers" since there were people. Just because someone takes A DAY to herself (that is after working with an advanced Alzheimer's patient and breaking the heart of the girl she likes) to think, doesn't mean she's "isolating." I have a cat! A day of working on myself and on homework, and therefore choosing not to get someone else's opinions in to distort what are my thoughts seems reasonable to me. It doesn't seem like I'm cowering in fear or anything. I think it shows strength. But again, we are allowed to disagree on things....it just feels weird when we do!

Either I misspoke or was misinterpretted: I am an advocate of thinking (obviously; I am inclined toward intellectualism and academia) but (and perhaps this is my misinterpretation) it appeared that your day to "think" came across as avoidance. Of course thinking matters, but it is of little value until it can and does yield a product, be it simply kindness or, in the case of academics/intellectuals, usually written work ( ... )
