1. http://www.slate.com/id/2210804/ has anyone seen the reader? I haven't. I did, however, see Revolutionary Road, the tale of suburban discomfort and ennui in the 1950s, apparently based on a novel written in the early 1960s (google'em). The film was all right, pretty good in fact, ( Read more... )

i did not like revolutionary road at all. my boyfriend and i kept commenting about how we hated everyone except for kathy bates' deranged son. funny how he got the sole oscar nom of the lot. it's really nice to be vindicated by amorphous 3rd parties.
we're supposedly seeing the reader tonight, just in the nick of time to say we've seen all the films that are nominated in the bigger categories - film, director, actor, supporting actor, screenplay, et all. well, i haven't seen frozen river or the visitor, but that's about it.

hope you're doing well.

I am doing well, as a matter of fact. thanks for your inquiry. and yeah, the more I think about it, the less I like revolutionary road. I had hoped it would grow on me --but it hasn't. yeah, michael shannon was the best part of revolutionary road. in a mediocre year, he might have even stood a (better) chance of winning the award. it had better go to ledger.

boyfriend, eh? you should update so's I (and hopefully other interested folks) can read about it. I miss your entries.

I hope you're doing well, too.

i saw the reader last night and actually did like it. didn't love it, but didn't outright dislike it like revolutionary road.

yeah, i'm basically done with livejournal... not that i'll never return, but right now the major internet outlet for me is facebook.

haha i've had a boyfriend for slightly over a year. actually, last year's oscars was the first time he was really around my family. i'm on the way to my parent's house right now actually to watch again. i'll be checking back on livejournal this week in case you make any good observations about the oscars ;)
