I am not a fan of pumpin... I wonder what these might taste like with acorn squash... nutty and sweet. Do you know I run a recipe list on Yahoo? The Pagan Table.
We never seem to use pumpkin as a sweet in Australia, we use it mainly as a vegetable. I've never tried pumpkin pie (though one day I will, 'cause I'd like to)
Don't you guys ever have pumpkin soup? And have mashed pumpkin with your steak and peas n' stuff?
pumpkin pie is a holiday tradition for most american families- thanksgiving would be lacking something without it!
i have never even heard of pumpkin soup. we have mashed sweet potatoes (which are DELICIOUS with butter and brown sugar!), but i have never heard of mashed pumpkin, either.
Well that conversation's inspired me to put a big pot of pumpkin soup on tonight.
If you want to know the recipe for pumpkin soup, I think it was one of the first posts in this community...
But if you've been viewing it as a sweet your whole life, it might be just too weird an idea! When I went to Singapore they had sweet corn flavoured ice cream, and it just did my head in!
