So most of the excitement at our house lately has involved taking care of a newly-diabetic cat - about which there has been a lot of detail in akiko's journal, so I won't go back over it here. She seems to be doing well at the moment, thank goodness.

Meanwhile, miscellaneous stuff:

I am so, so lusting after this Macross Frontier Piano Book, but can't ( Read more... )

I've ordered from Amazon Japan before, I remember it being relatively painless and inexpensive.

Oh, huh, I was under the impression you needed a credit card with a JP billing address for them, but I guess not?

Amazon Japan's overseas shipping is hella expensive. They basically make you pay Express Mail prices because that's all the international shipping they offer. :/ It'll probably be $30+ for just the shipping alone, but I've paid it before because there have been things that I've wanted that badly. On the other hand, at least they do ship overseas, and are hella reliable.

And I know you can't read the moon language, so I read the review for the Yoko Kanno book, wondering why it was just 2 stars: apparently the arrangement is very simple, and the reviewer felt it was aimed at people who are beginners, and warned that more advanced players might be disappointed in the arrangement.

Not sure if this still makes you want to buy it, but I figured I'd throw it out there. :D

I was thinking you needed a JP billing address for amazon.jp, but I guess I was mistaken. Still though, $30 shipping for a $20-ish book = urrrrgh. Hmm. Maybe if I found someone else around here who really needed some stuff from them we could combine shipping or something... dunno.

Yeah, the sole and single shipping option will run you 3,000 yen. Which is a lot of money these days. (I remember being able to go for slow/cheap shipping when I ordered some DVDs from them, but that was in...uh...I guess 2004 or so.)
