So according to gmaps pedometer, I biked approximately 15.5 miles this morning, including nearly 300 vertical change (most of it several times) - Hillsborough is hilly. No wonder I'm tired ( Read more... )

Sorry but I can't resist... on the same day, I biked about 23 miles and 1,500 feet up in Park City. It was awesome.

I'm really looking forward to my new job, but the east coast is going to include some culture shock :)

Well, it's not like it's actually hard to bike 23 miles out here. And if you want a little more vertical you can always drive over towards the Appalachians/Blue Ridge. They're no Rockies, sure, but biking up and down 'til you're tired would not be a problem, I think. And while you don't have the high mountain vistas, you do get a lot of pretty forested scenery in trade.

Edit: It occurs to me that now that Conni's job involves intermittent out-of-town gigs sometimes including whole weekends, once you're out here it might be fun to try to meet up with you for some hiking/biking stuff that she's not particularly into while she's working. As long as you pick something that won't kill me. ;)
