So I fell behind with watching my Mushishi DVDs only to finally start watching the last one today and guess what it skips on the first episode (and very badly too.) D ( Read more... )

Really, Best Buy will replace a disc that you didn't buy there? LOL!

Yeah but you have to be sneaky about. Obviously don't tell them that just be like I got this as a gift without a receipt but it doesn't work will you replace it for me. But they will only replace the same DVD they won't give you your money back or anything. :)

Dammit, you think they'll replace bad disks if I got them through amazon/RightStuf?

I still haven't even opened Planetes and Noein to watch... and searching around in that forum they don't do replacements for people living overseas, blah

I'll just hope and pray that these DVDs work properly.

Most likely they do I just don't like going through that route because you have to mail back the disk and it takes more time. If there really is a problem with your disks you can also contact Bandai directly and usually they will send you a new one too.

I just go the store route because it is more convenient for me.

I haven't heard of any problems about Noein or Planetes by the way. :)

Wow that Code Geass mess sounds horrible, I mean I don't know the technology but that is kind of crappy. Good thing I sort of stopped watching CG and thus have no desire whatsoever to own it.

I watch Code Geass because it amuses me and it is entertaining but I don't like it enough to buy it. Well maybe I would consider for cheaper boxsets but its definitely not worth the singles for me.

But yeah it seems there was a huge chunck of defective disks sent out and some people think it is because Bandai messed up with the copyright protection on the disks.

Wow that sucks, I don't buy enough stuff, mainly in that my anime consumption is way down, so I don't usually follow this, but I would be kind of ticked if that happened.

That is interesting that Best Buy will take back things that they never sold in the first place, seems kind of weird since most of the retail chains I have worked for (granted they didn't sell dvds) were pretty strict on what could and couldn't be returned and I know we never accepted merchandise that someone bought that wasn't from our company (stuff bought from the company online or from another store in the chain was perfectly fine of course)

Well like I said they will only do a direct exchange (give you back the same DVD for what your returned) they won't give you your money back or let you buy something else. I don't think they lose any money on a direct exchange.

And really if you go in and say this was a gift and I have no receipt but it doesn't work what are they going to do?

Yeah I think if it is shrink wrapped they will give your store credit but if it is open they will only exchange it. Which was fine by me because I wanted the same DVD this time.

But it looks like you got a free DVD out of the RahXephon mess up so that worked out. But sorry about the Avatar thing. Glad you are watching that series though :)!

In other news, yeah I should probably take your cue on watching DVDs as soon as I get them.

I think it is easier said than done though.
