Just got back from eatin' sushi at my fav local spot, Tori Tori. They added two new mix-lobster rolls and I got one with Red Snapper on top. Pretty tasty. I had considered calling up some folks to join me but I'm in the middle of reading Michael Crichton's new book "Next" and one of my single most enjoyable treats for myself is to sit alone at ( Read more... )

Nah, that happens to me too. It takes a skill to keep a conversation going and sometimes, that skill is lacking.

I tend to have these little expectations about online conversations and maybe I'm just asking too much too. Like, in person you wouldn't open a conversation with "I'd love to do XXX to you" and what not, but online people think it's OK. They've already taken their clothes off and I'm still at, "Wait, who are you again?"

Um, I can't say I'm guilty of your first 411 gripe but I have been guilty of the second a few times. It just takes me a little while to rev up sometimes, and I also have this fatal "politeness" thing going on...

I've gotta agree with you on "Sphere;" loved the book, but the movie was painful. I generally like Crichton's storytelling. I really liked "Timeline" (and thought the movie was pretty good), and would love to see "Prey" turned into a film. What's the basic premise of "Next?"

And yes, the online chatting; I also think the second conversation has come to a natural conclusion and would not go any further unless they send something else.

I'd forgotten about "Andromeda Strain;" I actually saw that one in the theater as a boy. "Congo" was unimpressive at best. But I did honestly enjoy "The Lost World" and "Timeline."

I had Tori Tori last night, or should I say early evening. I love that San Diego roll (cucumber).

I totally agree with your gripe. If someone sends me a message and then expects me to carry the conversation, I almost always immediately write them off.
