Left Overs

Just got back from eatin' sushi at my fav local spot, Tori Tori. They added two new mix-lobster rolls and I got one with Red Snapper on top. Pretty tasty. I had considered calling up some folks to join me but I'm in the middle of reading Michael Crichton's new book "Next" and one of my single most enjoyable treats for myself is to sit alone at TT, eat good sushi, and read a good book. So, I went ahead and did just that. Next isn't mind blowing but it's a fun read. My Mom got it for me for Christmas. It actually goes back to my asking her to buy me a copy of Jurassic Park when it was first published (yup, I have a first edition pre-movie copy) as I was a fan from reading Sphere (great book, unwatchable movie). Anyhow, was nice of her to remember.

Tonight is the bear dance night at Rich's but I think I'm gonna stay in. I didn't sleep well last night and I'm working at the bar the next two nights so I figure I should rest up.

I deposited some checks at BofA the other day and they have these nifty new ATMs that don't require envelopes for deposits. They just suck your check in and scan it. The receipt it gives you has scans of the checks too. Pretty cool, eh?

Oh yeah, a little 411 gripe here while it's on my mind.  There are two things (well, 100s of things) about chatting online that make me nuts sometimes.
Here are examples:

Guy - hello
Me - Howdy
Guy - Hi there

It would appear the guy has forgotten that he has actually already said hello to me...

Guy - Hi there, how are you doing tonight? (etc)
Me - I'm doing really well, thanks.  And yourself?
Guy - Good thanks

For me, that's the end of the convo.  If you don't have anything to say to keep things goin' then back into the pool you go.  Am I bein' too fickle and snooty?  Maybe, but when it comes to 411 I'm really on there to meet new and interesting guys or chat with my friends and if you can't come back with more than "good thanks" then I doubt we're gonna click at all.
I'm feeling a little disconnected these days.  I think it's the normal post-holiday type deal.  Not depressed, just a little off my game.  I'm sure havin' Todd here on Thursday will snap me out of it.  Can't wait!

sushi, books, life, random, 411
