Polyamory: Coming to an Orgy near you!

Jan 11, 2006 13:10

Last night, a bunch of polyamorists ganged up on me in one of my current livejournal friend's journal because I guess I didn't agree with their views. This is what I said in response to her poll about Polyamory:
I call it what it is. I view polyamory as just another convenient little word with a hidden meaning -- it's essentially promiscuous ( Read more... )

::claps:: you go J!!

I've tried to 'walk a mile' in their shoes so to speak...and quite frankly, I just don't get it!

LOL...I'd love to see that thread

I'd love to see one of them go to a job interview and divulge the kind of behavior they like to brag about.

"Umm.. so applicant, what are some of your hobbies?"

Do you discuss your sexual practices at job interviews?

So K&G, what are YOUR hobbies?

Well ma'am, I like to be fucked in the ass with a shampoo bottle - while my monogomous partner masturbates furiously to midget porn.

Come on, poly people are no more perverted than most monogomous people. I'm a filthy fucking whore - and am happily commited to my partner.

I can answer that interview question honestly and without shame, I can tell you that right now.

"Than most monogamous people?" Really? How would you know that?

I agree with you 100%...trying to justify polyamory is just too foreign a concept to the "hopelessly devoted to you" type that I am ;)

And you just had to punctuate that statement with that naughty icon of yours.

I'm soo glad to know that you are a fan of Olivia Newton John.

I know... but if you saw my latest K&G post, you would've seen that I was out of town since Monday. I only got back just an hour ago (close to midnight). I didn't forget though. :)

The biggest difference between humans and animals is the ability to differentiate right from wrong -- regardless of "natural instincts." But an animal's natural tendency to procreate is an entirely different subject which has nothing to do with these people who are trying to justify their promiscuity by saying that they are "in loooove" with multiple partners ( ... )

A couple being promiscuous and fooling around are doing it just for the fun and sex - not because they love each other so much they will allow their partners to slut around as much as they want. Polyamory types like to say that it is all about love that is the driving force for their promiscuity. I say that’s bull. It’s all about satisfying their lust, and therefore, why I said that polyamory=promiscuity ( ... )

Thanks for your comments. I did think about you when I was posting this because I knew that at one point in time you were engaged or experimenting in that kind of lifestyle.

Of course I agree with you that logically, trying to give yourself "equally" to multiple partners is not ever going to work. It might seem to work for a short period of time, but eventually it will fail. That's a guarantee.

Thanks again. That was interesting to know.

I saw that same post and I just had to pass right by it. I totally agree with you on this entire concept. And, wtf is up with comparing it to how a parent loves more than one child?! Alright, David Koresh wannabes!

Lookie here, J...a subject that we both agree on finally. ;*

Excellent zing with the David Koresh reference! :p

I don't know why that person brought up this absurd analogy of parental love and how it compares to polyamory. I think I made him/her nervous.

And what are you talking about? We agree more than you think. Just look at my icon! Do you like it?
