Polyamory: Coming to an Orgy near you!

Jan 11, 2006 13:10

Last night, a bunch of polyamorists ganged up on me in one of my current livejournal friend's journal because I guess I didn't agree with their views. This is what I said in response to her poll about Polyamory:
I call it what it is. I view polyamory as just another convenient little word with a hidden meaning -- it's essentially promiscuous ( Read more... )

I'd love to see one of them go to a job interview and divulge the kind of behavior they like to brag about.

"Umm.. so applicant, what are some of your hobbies?"

Do you discuss your sexual practices at job interviews?

So K&G, what are YOUR hobbies?

Well ma'am, I like to be fucked in the ass with a shampoo bottle - while my monogomous partner masturbates furiously to midget porn.

Come on, poly people are no more perverted than most monogomous people. I'm a filthy fucking whore - and am happily commited to my partner.

I can answer that interview question honestly and without shame, I can tell you that right now.

"Than most monogamous people?" Really? How would you know that?

If you can describe your sexual practices, or "hobbies" as you're referring to them here, in an interview without shame, I can only image that your sexual practices are lacking in the excitement department. Sorry, that's just my impression. I have a hard time telling some of my friends, much less a stranger, the naughty kinky filthy things my partner and I do.

How can I assume that mono people are just as kinky as poly people? From experience. I've had my fair share of both, and to be completely honest, I've encountered more negative "sexual issues" in people who see shame or disgust in free sexual expression. The closet pervs, if you will. Those are usually the one with deep seated sexual issues. I believe that even if you don't partake in it, to at least have an understanding that other people do it, shows a healthy sexual attitude. I'm just sayin.

Actually the "hobbies" I was referring to was simply that: hobbies. If asked that question, I'd be able to give an honest answer without having to think, "oh, I better not mention that as my hobby, I like to bang two women at the same time because I am poly."

The polyamory types, on the other hand couldn't be candid like that.

I was using satire in my earlier comment.... not to be taken quite literally.

Ah, that might be part of the problem. Poly people do not view their lifestyle as a hobby. It is simply how they choose to express themselves sexually. Just as you would not disclose your sexual practices to a stranger, neither do poly people. Well, unless they're trying to get some, heh ;)
