A terrible day today. Spent 1-5 p.m. hiding in the bed with Sasha, my Hobbes-style tiger. Not depressed, just situationally upset and withdrawn. Feeling better now, though still a bit emotionally shellshocked. Still feeling very down, as I have been for several days now. Just withdrawn, not wanting to interact with anyone (including poor Shannon, who is mostly being ignored), not interested in doing anything. Feet: I saw the podiatrist on Wednesday and he verified the diagnosis of plantar fasciitis. He recommended various things: custom orthotics (if my insurance will cover them) for my everyday shoes, better everyday shoes (he gave me a list of recommendations, and I've already ordered a pair), some non-custom orthotics to stick in the shoes I wear ( Read more... )

Ack. Still somewhat hypomanic. I woke up at 6:30 this morning (when Shannon unfortunately had to get up to get ready to go to SF for a conference) and have been getting things done ever since. Birthday: Good. Busy. Vietnamese food with the in-laws. Sundaes at Ben & Jerry's. Beloved people singing "Happy Birthday" on the answering machine. "Spirited Away" with wonderful friends and crazy snacks. Walking with Shannon in Tilden Park and enjoying all the green. Delicious Mediterranean dinner at La Mediterranee. ( Read more... )

We've discovered that the First Place Winner of the Most Annoying Contractor of 2012 Award (a.k.a. the guy who did our downstairs bathroom) installed the light switch for our bathroom in such a way that the switch often spontaneously flips up, turning the light on for no reason.
