I was assuming that Damon didn't know about the sire bond. No one else seemed to, until whats-her-name put two and two together thanks to the hybrid bond.
I also didn't think that Stefan knew that Jeremy killing the vampires would affect him. Maybe I missed something, but I thought he thought that it would just make more of the tattoo show up, without realizing that it would also make Jeremy more intent on killing vampires. Because otherwise, I can't imagine him letting Jeremy get near Elana. I took his strong arming Jeremy as just trying to ignore is natural reluctance to kill, which Stefan thought had been handled well enough by choosing someone who deserved to die.
I was reacting to the promo for next week, the one that played immediately after the episode. In the promo, we saw Stefan lambasting Damon for the fact that he took "full advantage" of the sire bond, and Damon looking abashed. Like I said, I'm hoping for the "didn't know" interpretation, but the "took full advantage" bit made it seem like the other. Maybe it was just Stefan being a dick to make his brother feel worse than he already does
