My house

This is what I hope to eventually be able to do for my future house. First of all, and most importantly, the land. I want it to be fairly sizeable, with a forest nearby or part of my property. I would like it near a river for hydroelectric reasons but failing that it needs to be able to be zoned for a wind generator powerful enough to provide all ( Read more... )

Man, your dream house is complicated. XD I just want to get a decent sized bit of land, and build a replica of my old house from Union Mills. Then I can use the yard to garden and plant lots of pretty trees and flowers.

It's not that complicated! Attic, storage! Upstairs, sleeping! Downstairs, living! Basement, work/entertainment! And it's all independent of the local power company! :D

:p The "independent of the power company" is the complicated part. Not even sure what the geothermal thing is.

The geothermal thing is basically using the earth as a heating/cooling method. A couple pipes are driven deep into the earth (not very deep, maybe 60 feet or so?) and that's used to either transfer heat to the earth (using it as an air conditioner) or drawing heat from the earth (using it as a heater.) Basically saves money by taking advantage of a near-infinite source of heat!

Hell, at this point, I'd be happy to have a trailer, as long as it's in a wooded lot, miles from neighbors :3

I like your idea for a stargazing platform. I've notived lots of houses in the middle east have flat rooftops with porches on them, rather than having a ground-level yard. Would be neat to have something like that.

That wouldn't be too bad either, but I kind of like the idea of an actual house with a decent kitchen and basement! Plus having all those extra rooms for people needing a place to crash for a week or so. Among other things I won't get into here :D

I thought the platform was a neat idea. Yeah sure, I could set up my telescope by a window or what have you but what fun is that? Not to mention your gazing would be obstructed by the house if there was something waaay off in the distance in the direction of the house. Best to have a full 360 degree viewing area! Opens up other possibilities too, like watching the sunset with one's mate, etc. Romantic!
